Has anyone had any experience with the use of Gabapenten (a medicine use to heal nerves) to help with Meniere's or Hydrops? Someone suggested it to me, and there was a case reported by NIH where the drug was used for another reason, but did reverse hearing damage for a patient.

Thank you for responding to a desperate person, whose hearing issues have turned his life upside down.

Hi, I read that gabapentin is the same as neurontin. I took neurontin some time ago for nerve pain associated with a back injury. It made me almost suicidally depressed. Please be careful!

If you have migraine associated vertigo, it may be helpful. My primary care doctor prescribed gabapentin to me for migraines, but my ENT said not to use it since it hasn't been proven effective for that use. So, I haven't tried it and can't say whether it's effective or not meniere's or migraines.

I don't know much about gabapentin, but i do know that it is not popular on the benzo boards. It messes with gaba receptors in a way that bothers a lot of people.
