I have only had three major vertigo spells since November, but get these mini events, when I shut my eyes in the shower, sometimes when I turn fast or put my head down and sometimes at moments that are unpredictable like walking up steps. Then of course there are those days where I stay lightheaded and have this sick feeling in my stomach and I never have thrown up' but I never get to the point of falling, only stumbling. These are not good days. I have only had minor nausea. Are these symptoms of Meniere's or something else?

Have you been tested for PLF or SCD?

I'm still not sure what SCD or PLF are. I'm also experiencing these short dizzy spells and think it may be MAV but have still a lot to learn.

    To Ken and Jimmy Allen:
My Ent's Nurse.P once asked me to 'define' dizzy--without using the word 'dizzy'! LOL Now, that's a challenge. But, they have to know just what you mean by saying you feel 'dizzy'. For some it's 'spinning', for others it's 'off balance' for other's it's lightheadedness.

I guess each of these symptoms can mean different things and help in the diagnosis.

So, here are my symptoms now that I have no more vertigo--after the shunt surgery!
I have head 'pressure' from the eyes up--whenever I'm in an 'upright position'! It gets to be very uncomfortable--and can bring on nausea--just a miserable feeling.
The only way it gets easy--is to sit back in my recliner or lay down. No fun.
And sometimes, after a long day of it--I'm so wiped out--I am 'knocked out' and have to nap awhile.

Also, the tinnitus has gotten worse of late--alot of roaring going on like a loud 'furnace running' in my head.
If I turn my head too quickly, I feel more like the word for 'common dizziness' means--like I could lose my balance etc.

But I am 'not dizzy' like one spinning--so there are different explanations to one being 'dizzy'!
I have a hard time with thinking it's like 'silent migraine'--though some symptoms are similar. But, when I was younger and had awful migraines--they weren't daily--and this is!!

So, I think the inner ear fluid just gets 'messed up' some way and causes the mechanism there to 'misfire'--what a medical term--LoL
    Anyway--that's my two cents.

Yanksgirl, I have the same damn pressure from the eyes up and on my temples almost every day for three weeks now. I cant' bend down to make up a bed or lower my head in any manner. If I do, then I do get dizzy and pressure. My ENT-Otologist told me to see a neurologist just like yours did (she said she was not good at solving migraine issues), and another ENT I visited said it might be an allergic complication and he put me on Zyrtec (not helping). I started getting these migraines after significant steroid use, and I wonder if that is not the culprit. My current ENT-Otologist said that steroids do have complications. I wonder if this might be from the pollen here in Atlanta. Who the hell knows? These days it seems there are no easy answers. I have dental drills running in my head, with the furnace on as well. That is a good descriptor for this low rumbling noises. Also not sure what PLF or SCD are.

Perilymph fistula (PLF) and superior canal dehiscence (SCD) can both be responsible for quick intense vertigo. They are both semi-rare but should have been checked by any competent ENT.

I advise that you educate yourself thoroughly on all ear diseases, as you cannot expect your doctor to do so. Blindly trusting doctors has caused many of us years of suffering. Be your own best advocate.
