Anyone here had an implant in a diseased MM ear? I know its not contradictory but am finding that its very tricky. Mechanical changes in ears with MM are well documented. Especially saccule dilation beyond the footplate...making it a target for puncture in a typical electrode insertion (now usually done via the round window). For my own knowledge and situation am curious if anyone has experience this issue? Had an implant that went awry because of it? Or a success? If so would love to connect. My thanks.

    Hi SJW,

I have burned out bilateral Meniere's, and bilateral cochlear implants. I had outstanding results with both cochlear implants. The medical literature that I have seen says Meniere's patients usually, but not always, have good results with cochlear implants.

    Best regards,

    Jim

    Hey Sid,

can't offer much help or advice but just wanted to wish you luck my friend and to know you are in my thoughts and prayers as you go down this road.

I do not need a CI yet but if/when that day comes i will take the plunge/risk......Nothing to loose and gotta take advantage of the tools available in the shed to give us the best quality of life we can get.....Especially if there are Grand Kids on the way, gotta want to be able to hear those little ones...especially if you have babysitting duty and need to get up in middle of night and change the diapers and give a bottle.

folks......Sid is a valuable resource to anybody dealing with this disease, i can attest there were times i don't know what i would have done without him and his advice.

    thanks Sid!!!

    Joe
