I am asking if anyone has an opinion/advice about taking CoQ10, B2 and Magnesium along with JOH protocol and Valtrex? I have been taking the L-Lysine for the last four weeks, along with my antiviral (the last five weeks). Today I started the Lemon Bioflavonoid and will add the other components this week. I have been taking the first three supplements for the last 5 months, at the suggested by my Johns Hopkins ENT for possible MAV (btw, the migraine diet hasnt done much for my improvement). I was wondering if I should stop those supplements while I'm trying JOH's protocol. Ideas? I"m not use to taking all these pills.
I would not do everything at once. If you get better you wont know what worked and if you get some side effects you wont know what caused them. If the antiviral works, you may not need anything else at all. More is not always better and it is defintely more expensive.
I take vitamin B complex to help restore muscles around neck and jaw. Namely B1, B6 and B12. So far so good, no side effects for me.
forevergrateful, I stopped JOH after Dr. who ordered Acyclovir poopooed it and I usually don't like taking pills but have not stopped CoQ10 that I've taken for yrs. after a PCP recommended it.
Doctors are useful for some things, but we need to take control of our own healing. I personally would throw everything you have at it as long as your pharmacist isn't worried about an interaction. At the least, add 3000 mg of lysine to the mix. Take 3 times per day (1000 mg) on an empty stomach.
Scott, Thanks for all your feedback re diet including nuts and re. L lysine. I'll go back on 3x/day lysine with my Acyclovir. I wish everyone optimal health.
I've been on CoQ10, Magnesium and B2 for migraine prevention, too. I'm in the midst of several months of frequent vertigo again, so I'm trying everything I can find, including bits of JOH and antivirals, and maybe antihistamines too?. I've recently started acupuncture and tai chi (when I can), nettle tea as a mild diuretic, Mylan-valacyclovir, lysine, and vinpocetine (and eagerly await the arrival of my Lemon Bioflavonoids). I'm going to get Daith ear piercings on Monday. I tried the Gingko of JOH, but got palpitations. In the last few months I was able to stop my nightly Imovane (using a book "Say Good Night to Insomnia" and amino acids 5HTP, GABA and Tryptophan.) I've also kicked my Remeron (interestingly enough this antidepressant has antihistamine properties). My mood and anxiety are remarkably good, considering the vertigo hell this year. Perhaps my multiB vits and Omega Joy and Vitamin D are helping. So, I think I'm on a crazy amount of vitamins and supplements, but pleased to be off the sleeping pill (mostly - I'll still use it when I need to knock out a vertigo at night) and antidepressant. Normally, I would try one change at a time, but the vertigo has got me desperate enough to try everything at once. Hopefully I'll get to a vertigo-free zone, and then taper back, figure out which combo helps. If All this doesn't help, I may have to try Epival (valproate) for the drop attacks - I really don't want that drug - the side effects sound lousy. Or surgical options, which I presume would require me to undergo the nasty vestibular testing again. Desperately yours...
I take ... a multi vitamin, CQ10, fish oil, generic valtrex (though not for a couple of weeks because of insurance bs), magnesium, and a probiotic every other day or so. Two things .... 1 - Make sure you get your kidney and liver function tested routinely. Most of the time you get that with an annual physical but it depends on your doc. Sometimes all of the meds and pills will start to cause problems. Rare but possible. 2 - Magnesium in high does can make certain bathroom visits more fluid than you might like. If that happens you might want to take a bit less.
