Hello all, its been a few years since I've visited, I've been doing my best to stop this illness from holding me back. A new job, exercising and pushing myself, however when it comes to flying I get a cold sweat and I start freaking out and last fight I had an attack. Does anyone have any tips? Does knocking yourself out affect you too much?
I've only been getting treatment for Meniere's for about 5 weeks and have been reading about what others experience has been. I read and believe that I feel worse when I feel stressed so like you I try to take care of myself. I get plenty of rest, fresh air and sunshine, fluids and I've been on a low sodium , 4 oz. protein a day diet. I ride my bicycle 5 miles 5 x a week, pray and meditate.
Might be worth trying some medicinal marijuana before going to airport. I haven't tried it yet for menieres but have been thinking about it lately. I know if some event was freaking me out I would probably try it.
Time for the Laby.... When you find yourself loosing confidence and breaking out in cold sweats from panic attacks its time to slay the beast once and for all and get back to a normal life. I am sympathetic to the labyrinthectomy good luck...do not let mm control your life.
If flying and fear of flying causes such angst, then one answer would be to take a train (rail road?). Cheaper than a laby, less invasive and with better views thrown in. Just a thought....
I am confused. Do you just generally have a fear of flying and it gets you so upset it sets off a vertigo attack thinking about it? Or have you had problems with attacks when you fly? Or are you just afraid you might? Generally, Menieres is not affected by flying. Sometimes people have some eustachian problem as well and that is a problem. I did and it caused me significant pain and hearing problems from the pressure on ascent and particularly descent. I addressed this with a weakened solution of neosinephrine. The pharmacist at a compounding pharmacy can cut it to a weaker strength. Use 20 mins before boarding and 20 mins before landing. Eventually allergy shots cured that part for me. If you have a general fear of flying, maybe dont fly. The way they treat passengers nowdays sucks anyway.
