Well, I had posted on getting new hearing aids--and those didn't help much. So, had to return them, now wearing loaners while others are being ordered. These are working alot better so far. I will let you all know how well, after I get the new ones next week (I think).
Due to my ears itching and burning (slightly) my doctor had me use baby oil (2 drops at night for a week).

That seemed to help--but then started up again--so he just put me on a lotion mostly used for Psoriasis I'm learning. But this is for my ears--two drops in each ear at night for one week.

Well, last night put two drops in each ear and it 'set my ears on fire'! Really burned!

Lasted a full minute or more, then down to a stinging sensation. Then began to ease. This morning some mild scaly skin came out (using my little finger with small nail and only slightly touching inside the ear).

The scaly part had been off and on prior to the gel--but seemed more so this morning. Anyone have this happen or use a gel lotion like this--Betamethasone valerate?

I looked it up online and it said let the doctor know asap if burning occurs. I plan to on Monday. So, today I just put a bit of the baby oil on a q tip and run it around the inside of my inner ear. Felt good. Leaving the hearing aid out for a few hours.

Has anyone here used this and if so--any problems? Thanks

ps: saw the Neurologist, had a nerve conduction test, and told him my main concern is this 'head pressure'--I want to find out if it is or is not due to the Meniere's.

Today, have kept on going, church--out to dinner--out to our grandson's ballgame--but 'pushing' is the word I use, because when your head has pressure you feel 'out of sorts' when you move your head--at all, and need to walk carefully, and can't wait to sit and put your head back at every chance you get. Hoping for some answers.

Oh, please let us know what happens with the neurologist. I have been trying to get an appointment at the Mayo Clinic as I felt (until I found this site) that there was something else wrong in my brain. My weird/pressure feeling (not sure what to call it) seems to be the entire back of my head - very disconcerting. It turns to dizziness if I don't sit down and be still for some time. I seem to be best when there is no outside noise, no activity, I am not talking, and the weather is dry. I seldom get all of these at the same time!

Yanksgirl, I haven't used the ear lotion drops but have you thought about an upper cervical chiropractor? Hiro posted some interesting information about this treatment recently.

Yanksgirl, I have the same issue, head pressure. Still waiting to see an allergist and a Neurologist. I had to cancel both appointment due to a respiratory virus. It is worse when the tinnitus is full on and I get dizzy. I also get vision distortions and hearing distortions. Tonight I am hearing a monster when I speak. When you said you push yourself to get out, I could so relate. Human contact now scares me so much...it makes me so sad to feel this way...I will keep pushing. Please keep us up-to-date. One thing I notices this afternoon, is when I pick up something heavy, I get dizzy....

Happy to report the two together--the medicated drops and then the baby oil have helped the dryness and the awful burning/itching. As to the head pressure, my Neuro doctor is reluctant yet to say much but sort of said, 'I don't have the answer either' but we'll talk at the next appt. and see what we come up with. At least he listens. We even talked about the CFL (cerebral spinal leak) and a blood patch.
I had two blood patches a few years ago--following a myelogram and subsequent spinal leak in the brain. It took two injections of my own blood to seal up the leak. The thing is I had the worst headache when the leak was going on that I'd ever had. What I have now--has no pain (most of you can relate). It's just horrible pressure when upright and relieves when sitting back in a recliner or lying down. I'll let you know in July if I decide to try the 'blood patch'. Right now, not so sure I'll agree to it unless my doctor says there is a good reason to try. I spent 3 days in hospital last week and another E.R. trip this week--due to really elevated b/p. I have an upper resp. virus too. Not been a good week but I'm 'on the mend'!
