Well, yet another new experience. I had a three hour vertigo attack at 4:30am this morning in the middle of sleeping. I woke up due to roar in the ears and then opened my eyes to a spinning room (the bedroom was turning upside down). I was Violently sick and I had to crawl to the bathroom. I took two Xanax and knocked myself out. I am still woozy today, and feel like someone has beaten me up. During the event I had a horrible headache around the sinuses and temples and I completely soaked the bed sweating profusely. Loud tinnitus continues today. I hope this is my first and last time to deal with this during sleep. My other events happened while I was awake! Strangely I feel pretty good today, because I am not spinning currently--it was such a relief for it to end. Pretty sad when I think about it.
I know the feeling. Had dreams that I was spinning and woke up spinning. Horrible. One member here talked about putting a sticker on his ceiling so he had something to focus on when this happened.
Been there, done that. I was on vacation when mine hit and it sucked bad. Have you tried the full JOH regimen? It helped me.
Hi deal with this issue as well. I immediately stare at my alarm clock numbers glowing in the dark. It takes a bit but I can finally get the vertigo to stop. It is not a good feeling.
I've had that happen a few times. I actually prefer night time episodes, as I'm already in bed and there's no tasks needing to be done at 3AM anyway. And if the spinning isn't too bad, I can pop a Xanax and actually semi-sleep through it. Not saying I love a night time attack. But it sure beats an attack on the 405 in the middle or rush hour...
That happened to me for the first time ever about 3 months ago - and it was right around the same time - 4am.... that was also a first for me - I had never woken up WITH an attack..... after I threw up for an hour I finally was able to get 10 mg of Valium to stay down and I slept it off until about noon and did not go into work that day. Everyday is a new challenge ..... I just try to roll with it. LOL
yeah, not fun. I've felt it coming on when I'm half awake and then had it hit when I woke up. Try to get Ativan and Phenergan in me and sleep it off. But preferable to having a meeting with your boss and ending up on her office floor vomiting in a trash can and having your parents come pick you up!! It sucks when you adjust to things happening in a certain way and then they start happening in a different way.
Catofsail. One thing I am learning with this illness, there doesn't seem to be many "regular occurrences." It seems different each day, and new levels of pain and torture. I suppose there are general categories of symptoms....I tried to listen to music tonight, and it is not happening. Mid-tones and bass sound distorted and difficult to listen to. I will keep trying.
I had an earplug made by my ENT so I could still go to concerts - they mold it right into your ear canal and takes about two weeks to make - it was $65 but it has made all the difference in the world - I can ride on the back of our motorcycle too with my ear plug in or go boating - it is a huge help with the wind.... Not sure if you have tried that or not but might be worth a shot.
True, I've only been having issues for 8 months so some things are still new. At first, my vertigo attacks were mostly in the afternoon so the first time it happened in the morning it was a new occurrence. But yes there is nothing regular about this illness.
