That song is like "My Way" by Sinatra, in that both are over-the-top melodramatic but because they're such great talents they pull it off. It doesn't matter how grandiose the songs are, all that comes across is greatness. I guess you could put Bette's "The Rose" in that category.

I am not listening to Simon & Garfunkel's "Feelin' Groovy" because I hate it. And this lyric is a giant ball of cheese.

    Hello lamppost, what'cha knowin'?
I've come to watch your flowers growin'
Ain't'cha got no rhymes for me?
    Doot doodoo feelin' groovyyyyyyy

This is my first day in a while without any dizzy so I'm pretty happy. So I'm playing my happy song. "Bennie and the Jets". The song takes me back to my childhood when things were good. My older brothers used to own Elton John's Greatest Hits. The one with him at the piano in the white suit and fedora. I don't think there's a home in the Western world that hasn't had this album in it at some time or another.

They played this album a lot. It would be spring and sunshiny (back when I liked the sun) with the windows open the breeze would billow the thin white curtains next to the stereo in the living room. The song seemed airy and breezy too. I love its casual cool. It's just so...right.

I can't understand a word he's singing, except the chorus, and that's how I want to keep it. When it comes on the radio I always turn it off so as not to tire of it. Those staggered opening chords get me everytime.

PLONK...plonk plah-plah-plah-plah PLONK. I LOVED this little dork! This song is how life should be.

Very cool. I love chillout music, especially on a balmy Sunday night. Coincidently, the artwork on your link is hanging on my wall. Steichen's "The Flatiron". I bought a poster of it at the Boston Museum when I was about 14. Perfect photo for moody teenager. I still love it though. Well, who doesn't? What atmosphere. Man I miss the rain. It seldom rains in California.
