I have misaligned C 3 - 5 if I remember correctly and one disc that has almost totally degenerated. Chiropractor said he"ll try to fix it; had my first adjustment today. He didn't mention Meniere's even tho. I wrote it on the initial paperwork.
Good luck, Marie. Hopefully it helps. I know zero about anatomy but from what I've seen on this site it is the upper cervical that may impact MM. Not sure where the C 3-5 fall in.
Be very careful about what chiropractor you use. While it can be beneficial for some, there are a lot of quacks out there hurting people and/or scamming them. http://edzardernst.com/2013/10/twenty-things-most-chiropractors-wont-tell-you/
So, now I know that my C1 and 2 are not out of alignment but maybe I'll get some relief from the almost constant headache. Scott, Thanks for the words of caution. I'll read the article later but do appreciate having a forum to say what's going on with me as I know stress can aggravate my symptoms.
Absolutely! I hope you get full relief soon! Don't take my post as a warning not to do chiropractic work. Just be careful about who you go to. There are some really good ones as well.
Marie, it is a giant step that you have identified where the issue is. My case is C1/C2 whose misalignment is backward and downward to where it should be. I have been doing McKenzie neck exercises to maintain flexibility on muscles around neck. Hope you find the best for yours.
Scott, Thanks so much for the article. I went to a chiropractor in the past who believed every disease was related to the spinal nerves, that I should sign and agree to pay for a treatment plan for the next 6 months which included adjustments and dietary supplements at a cost of $3,000. I politely excused myself and never went back. The chiropractor that I went to this week believes that chiropractic treatments do not treat all disease and is not a substitute for medical care.
I've had 3 treatments so far. Not the old adjustments where the chiropractor presses until a joint shifts and a popping sounds results. this feels like a small spring loaded instrument that taps under my ear, and a couple places on my spine. I still have headaches and fullness in my head. I am grateful however that I've had no vertigo and only occasional mild dizziness. I do feel most comfortable home alone. Tomorrow I'm going to a birthday luncheon at a mexican restaurant, wish me luck. I may just bring some fruit. They are all dear friends and won't think anything of it. Hope you all are finding some relief.
The average plan for this chiropractic treatment is 2 x a week for 3 months then 1 x per month. seems excessive to me. I'll have to consider letting him know that I'm not on board with that; not to mention the expense. Still feel good enough to drive and bicycle. What freedom! My best to all of you. Love this site
Marie, That does seem excessive. I believe you are describing the NUCCA procedure and the guy I went to said 1 or 2 treatments should suffice. He did a before and after photo of me against a grid wall and the difference was astounding. The single treatment brought me from significantly left leaning to slightly left leaning. The next one should do the trick. I know every case is different but he even said there are a lot of charlatans out there so be careful.
