Hello I have had an intratympanic injection one month ago in the hope to restore my hearing and I since experience mild pain in my ear. Last week the doctor said that my eardrum was still open and had not yet healed. Does anyone had one of these shot in the ear and experienced similar mild pain? How long did it take for your eardrum to heal? Thank you very much for your feedback
Hi, It's highly variable. I've had 10 dex injections which were typically given in clusters of three spaced 1 week apart. I've not had any injections for several years now, but at the time my Dr did observe that the ear drum closed up nicely after just a week. He also mentioned that this was somewhat uncommon and lots of people took longer to heal. If you're concerned you should probably contact you doctor and get things checked out. Good luck, John
I would contact the Dr immediately. I had a tube fall out of my left ear. I then got an infection because the hole didn't close. The right tube has been in three years. My Dr will see me in three months. If the hole hasn't closed he will do Tympanoplasty to repair it. And he will take out the tube that's still in. It's always best to have the Dr take a look. Good Luck to you.
Thanks for your replies. I have an appointment with my doctor next week. I feel today is better and that the mild pain might have a psychological component as it seems to decrease when I try to keep my mind off my ear (which is not very often successful!)
I'm new to this support group. I just had a Prednisone shot in my left ear on Tuesday. It seemed to help right away. But today I woke with aural fullness and tinnitus very strong. Feeling blue. I see the Doctor again this coming Tuesday for a follow up. Concerned about needing another shot? I don't want to lose more hearing (I have bilateral high frequency hearing loss and use hearing aids- don't help much when I'm in this state). I know the high humidity and impending Arthur storm is effecting me also. Any advice?
