I have a question about taking the lysine on an empty stomach. It will be ok if I take it after I take my thyroid medicine in the morning, correct? I take armour thyroid sublingually first thing when I wake up. I could then take the lysine on an empty stomach soon after, right? I was on an anti-viral when I had shingles in August and September this year. I still have nerve pain on the sign of my face and I had tremendous vertigo throughout the shingles. Wondering if I should pursue more anti viral with my doctor? Thank you so much John for posting the regimen. I appreciate it so much and am looking forward to seeing the results.
I would definitely pursue the anti viral. Bring in the Dr. Gacek research. Good luck with the John of Ohio regimen...I am starting next week too!!
Shingles suck. I have had them too. I had the residual pain for a month or so and i took the max dose of advil for a month. I also took valtrex. I sure would ask the doctor to continue it for a while given that you have an ear problem often associated with a herpes virus and your system is vulnerable to the virus and you dont need either one to get worse.
are there any side effects to taking the anti-viral longer term? ie; ruining the gut biome (like what happens with anti biotics?) etc?
No. I believe as long as you dont have any pre existing kidney or liver issues here shouldnt be any problems. They are known as relatively benign drugs esp compared to things like prednisone. Many people take them for years. Drink plenty of water when you take them. I dont take anything any longer than necessary either but i took them for six months and then off and on occasionally.
They are one of the safest drugs out there, and many people take them for life. Just have a kidney and liver check once a year to monitor for that very rare possibility.
Lysine, nor none of the rest of the regimen, will affect levo-thyroxine, the thyroid hormone. They can be taken together. Levo-thyroxine, however, should not be taken with food. When done so, it tends to get digested with the food, with less getting absorbed and used. I pop my thyroid pill just before going to bed, on an empty stomach.
Drink just a bit of tea, no apparent caffeine involvement for me. Do not restrict salt intake whatsoever. When first diagnosed with Meniere's, before I devised the regimen, was put on the LSD (low-salt, diuretic) protocol. Made not a whit of difference, Just a complication in life, with no useful results. Things didn't turn around until I devised and used the regimen.
Things didn't turn around until I devised and used the regimen. [/quote] John, I read you lost most of your hearing in one ear...did that ever come back? did your balance recover? thanks again for helping everyone...excited to start the regimen next week.
No, for about 15 years, I've been totally monaural, no hearing in my left, Meniere's-destroyed inner ear Hair cells gone there, never to grow back. But I've adjusted rather totally. I continue to play my trumpet, give pubic presentations on scientific topics I'm an expert on (not Meniere's). And, fortunately, I have no balance issues.
