WOW Dave Navarro?! I haven't heard of him since he lost his mind AGAIN and decided to marry Carmen Electra. Ahhhh, the things people do when in love. I have to say, the lyrics are much better than the singer, IMHO. Since it has good lyrics, I like it well enough. In that vein: Uninvited~Alanis Morissette https://youtu.be/uvgi7P97lu0
Ha. Reminiscent of a conversation I had a while ago. Friend - I'm listening to Jane's Addiction, Nathan. Me - Cool. An inordinate amount of drugs have been consumed by that band. Mr. Navarro especially. Friend - Yes, that's why he's so wonderful to listen to!
I don’t know about you, but I have always thought it’s total crap when people try to justify drug abuse with excuses such as, “they’re just such a sensitive soul,” or the perennial favorite that your friend mentioned, “they wouldn’t be such a talented artist, actor, musician, etc., if not for the drugs!” I call BS. Drug abuse, no matter the given reason, is a waste of life. It’s a waste of beautiful souls. Makes me think of: Who Knew~Pink https://youtu.be/NJWIbIe0N90
Mom used to play this. I can't say much for the rest of the song but the chorus is eternal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exSSOueuGGI And the version for me and Nathan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgLAOSJKuJ0
Bobby Vinson has an album in which every song has blue in it. I like that version that you posted for you and Nathan, Pupper.
Darn, you were so close to calling him Bobby Venison. That would've been good. And tasty. Coincidently I always get a private kick from the thought of someone, someday, naming their kid John F. Canada.
Ha! Flipping auto correct! I though I proof read that! Too early here, not enough caffeine, careless, sleepless night?? Nah, I’m blaming it on flipping auto correct!
ROFL sure, Mel. Just own it I’m afraid I’m rubbing off on you. Since “The Sound of Music,” is stuck in my head, thought I’d share my favorite song from that musical...not via Julie Andrews, though she is marvelous. My Favorite Things~The Supremes https://youtu.be/IK8BkuvI39E
I’m general, I love musicals, however, I detest West Side Story. I was subjected to one too many school viewings::gagging:: (“Tonight,” suddenly becomes stuck in my head) Sorry West Side Story! I must beg to differ~there is NO place for you. Nathan, do you like the song in totality, lyrics, or sound?
I'm a metal head sometimes, but the screaming lyrics aren't always what I'm in the mood for. Then I found Animals As Leaders. No vocals, just amazing polyrhythms, virtuoso guitar playing and IMO the best metal drummer hands down. Check out their latest album Madness of Many.
Radiohead - OK computer on vinyl. This one strikes a chord with me as it came out when I left home for college. Takes me back to some amazing times, and some very dark ones as well.
Superb bass player too. *nods … OK Computer is a breathtaking album. Welcome to the Front Porch, btw.
In its totality. Though when enjoying something in its totality, elements remain that are more appealing than others. Loveable imperfections orbit somewhere in this vicinity. Lyrics could be subcategorised into their emotion or conviction vs. their story or claim, for instance. I gravitate towards the mood of said song, generally speaking the genre itself, & in this specific case, Martina Topley-Bird's voice & singling style, more so than I gravitate towards the lyrics themselves, per se. I love trip-hop. Massive Attack, Portishead, & to a slightly lesser degree, Adrian Thaws, aka 'Tricky', pioneered the 'Bristol scene', which would be later termed 'trip-hop'.
