Pulsating Tinnitus. I really don't care for it, but I keep listening to it over and over and over.

Oh no! I know it is not the worst thing that could happen to us MM sufferers but it can be so annoying. I hope it fades away soon Cheryl. Sending you big hugs

Thanks, Marta. You're right, it could be worse. I'm thankful I haven't had vertigo in such a long time. After living with MM for approximately 43 years, I can cope with almost everything else, but this takes it over the edge for me. Day six, and it continues.

  5. Ah, Cheryl, :-\ my understanding is that the tinnitus is often what leads to the high incidence of depression in those with Meniere’s. It’s not something to be dismissed in my book. It’s agonizing. Yes, there are many things worse than Meniere’s, but if it weren’t that bad, we wouldn’t have a support forum. My father-in-law was once kind enough to point out to me that famine in Africa is worse than Meniere’s, for example. :D

Uh oh...wait for it...this brings to mind a song for the occasion, and I just can’t resist::crying with laughter:: maybe we all just need to:

Live On The Double Planet - Michael Hedges. I could listen to this anytime, any place. Acoustic guitar and songwriting legend, passed tragically in 1997.

Likewise. Have you heard Pulsating Tinnitus' new album "Together With You At Last"?

Rumour has it said album was inspired by The Carpenters "Close to you" & "We've Only Just Begun".

… Which are arguably two of the creepiest songs ever written.

I've heard all their stuff, Nathan. The new album is no better than any of the others. Why do I keep listening to this crap? :D :D :D

John F. Kennedy once said “We choose to go to the moon in this decade & do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard”.

… & then there's masochism. Pure, unadulterated masochism.

    The Prayer~ Celine Dion/Andrea Bocelli

The singing balance between them is perfect. Sometimes I’ve cringed seeing old Bocelli performances because his voice can overpower most other singers. Love this song. It’s so peaceful.

    Kurt Vile - ..b'lieve I'm Going Down

Great singer song writer album with lyrics that remind me on MM sometimes.

    You may think that
    It's funny now
    That I gotta headache
    Like a shop vac
    Suckin dust bunnies
    It's hard to see
    When it's all red and
    All you hear are just
    White noises

    Frank Zappa - Guitar 1 and 2

24 years gone today. Another one of those masterful artists that I didn't get into until right after they died or disbanded.

So Many Wizards - "Lose Your Mind"

One of my favorite songs ever. It came out the year of my Meniere's onset in 2015. The lyrics mean a lot to me as I relate to them through my condition. I think all of us with MM probably can. The theme is stoicism. Or rather, acceptance, I suppose. (I can't accept it yet, but I'm trying).

I changed a line in the lyrics to reflect what I always thought it said. The actual line, which I read today, doesn't make sense to me. I haven't watched the video as the song is too personal for me at this point and I want to keep it that way. It also captures my fear of being alone for the rest of my life if I go deaf. It's a very tender, beautiful song, I think.

    lose your mind
    slowly, it takes time
    it takes time

    you worry too much
    all those sunny days
    you worry too much
    who cares anyway

    cause nothing is sweet
    when you're all alone
    my mother told me so
let the sun kiss your lips
she knows all of the tricks

    so don't worry so much
    enough is enough

    cause nothing is sweet
    when you're all alone

  14. Pupper, that’s depressing as hell, though I get what you mean. I do think, however, that you need to look at your POTENTIAL situation from a different point of view. There are many ways and many reasons why an individual might be alone for the rest of their life having nothing to do with hearing. If you go deaf, will the current people involved in your life not make the effort to communicate with you via alternative methods(of which there are many)? If that’s the case, I’d already be questioning if I had worthwhile relationships with these people now. Or, maybe you’re letting fear take over in an unfounded way? There isn’t anything wrong with being afraid. Fear has a bad reputation. You need to keep reminding yourself that even if the worst, so to speak, does happen, you’ll get through it. How do you know you’ll get through it? Because you’ve gotten through everything else. Oh, one more thing. Someone once told me you’ll never be alone as long as you have a good book. It’s true.

Sorry for jacking the thread, Nathan. Please excuse me.

    Autumn,

I'll think about what you said about fear.

My girlfriend loves to talk. Sign language simply wouldn't cut it. And I wouldn't want to do that to her.

I really do appreciate what you said. I'm not sitting here contradicting you.

Oh, and I do love books. When I've said something similar to what you said, to my dad..."you’ll never be alone as long as you have a good book." He replies, "you can only read so much." Hey, you gotta love both lines, am I right? My dad's pretty cool.

P.S. I watched a live version of the song and it turns out I was hearing the lyrics right all along. Someone just wrote them down wrong on the internet.

I've walked out of most musicals. I just tell the people I'm with to find me at the nearest bar. I just don't have the patience. It becomes like torture. I literally can't sit still and get a little panicky. Cats was the worst for me. Like a nightmare.
