This song by King Krule, "Easy Easy" is about life on the streets as a poor kid in London. Shoplifting and "Bobby's" (cops) hassling him.

For me, when I get anxious about my MM, I try and keep in the mindframe of this song, "easy". Especially starting at the 2 minute mark, when he sings

When positivity seems hard to reach
I keep my head down and my mouth shut
'Cause if you going through hell
    You just keep going
    You're easy
    So easy

It's pretty soothing the way he sings those last lines. Like a lullaby. It's comforting.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

An old classic. Spinning the vinyl tonight...day off, got the tree up and felt good all day for a change. This one always takes me back to college when I had a year off after getting quite ill with my heart and having to miss a year. That time was spent falling into a deep depression among other things. I learned a lot about myself during that time. Mostly, I learned that I don't live well alone. It didn't take me long to wake up at 7pm and go to bed the next day at noon. Long drives in the car at night across unknown backroads. I ended up at the beach one time, watched the sun rise from the back seat of my car while this album played. If I could have that year back, to drop back in then...

MGB, sorry about your bad year. That album reminds me of a bad year as well. (Not nearly as bad as yours). Loneliness had a lot to do with it. I discovered that album at the time. It made my isolation worse. Besides the title song Wish You Were Here, the album sounds icy to me. Feels so cold.

Funny how it had opposite effects for us. (Although, I guess you didn't quite say if you actually like the album or not).

Drank too much tonight. Ahh well, it's that or just staying in and looking at the same walls 24/7. That spells death. Went to bar. Talked to some bar friends. Forgot about my problems for a while. Came home. Listening to my favorite Sinatra song. And one of my top 10 fave songs of all time. If this song doesn't put you in the right mood, nothing will.

    Pup,

It's still one of my all time favorites. Probably the best synth album of all time IMO. My license plate used to say WSHUWRHR. The late Richard Wright was one of the most underrated musicians of the era. The lead into Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pt 4 (or whichever part comes after the title track) is just pure genius.

But I agree, it's a very cold album. It's of course about Syd Barrett, the original member who lost his mind and couldn't hack it anymore. The struggle of the band simultaneously wanting him back, being glad he was gone but wanting him to get his life together..it's all everyday real life struggle type stuff.

I'll have to peep the Sinatra...I haven't officially been experienced.

    Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries - 1984

Truly masterful acoustic guitar playing yet one of the most hypnotically relaxing albums out there. If you haven't heard of Hedges, he was truly ahead of his time and died a tragic death in 1997.

  9. I’ve never been able to find the adequate descriptive for why I HATE, DETEST, and DESPISE this album, but you’ve hit the nail on the head, Pupper. It DOES sound absolutely icy to me, and with no redeemable value, in my book.

Ouch! This hurts my soul. I think you are the first person I've heard from who actually HATES this album. But, to each his or her own. It is quite interesting to think about it that way, something you thought was universally liked.

  11. Ahhh, spice is the variety of life :)
A)wouldn’t it be boring if we all loved, felt attracted to, or were moved by the same music and
B)If we all liked the same music, there would be no need for the evolution of music, the creation of new genres of music, or the creation of new musical compositions to reach our souls, would there?

I didn't want to say anything MBG, but I kinda hate the album too.

And I'm a big Floyd fan. I love the two famous songs from it, Welcome to the Machine (sung by Roy Harper) and Wish You Were Here. I've tried SO hard over the years to like the other songs, but recently I just gave up.

I'll check out the Hedges album. Heard of him but never listened to him.

Needed a bit of a perk up tonight.

I had to play this in my school symphony as a child, but I still love it. It actually does make me think about the people who lived in those cliffs...I find it relaxing.

I found that calming too. Do you play the flute?

  16. Glad you liked it. That question cracks me. ROFL Um, no. Why is it that men ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ask if I play the flute?! Do you think it’s because there are a disproportionate number of flautists, or a disproportionate number of female flautists? I wonder...I know you aren’t asking me that in any kind of rude way whatsoever, but it happened to me a couple of months ago, from a band conductor no less, and I know it was asked because I’m a female and petite. My husband introduced us and mentioned my musical inclination. The guy looked me up and down and then ACTUALLY sneered, “let me guess, you play the flute?” As he was so unexpectedly rude I confess that I baited him and said,”not even close, don’t bother trying to guess, as you won’t get it.” He didn’t get it, because he was sexist. Why is it conductors so often think they are God’s gift??? ::) I’ll PM you Pupper and tell you what instruments I play. FYI: reason number 1263 why losing your hearing stinks: instrument tuning :(

The video you linked to just showed a black screen with music, so I clicked on one with something to look at. Showed a bunch of girls on woodwinds. Just a guess.

Guest: Autumn could you pass the salt please?

Autumn: Why the f**k! would you ask me that! Just 'cause I'm sitting next to it!?

  18. Yeah, why would you, you have Meniere’s! The Meniere’s police says, “step away from the salt, please sir.” ::wheezing with laughter:: I couldn’t resist ;D

That was a good one, Pupper. Can you please smack some sense into ignorant peeps for me?

  20. Pupper, you know I think you’re the cat’s pajamas. As such, it will come as no surprise that this is JUST FOR YOU, because I had to show you how much I appreciate you, sweets. ::kisses!:: ;) ;D
