Question for anyone on LTD i have a pretty severe case of bi lateral menieres. I was taken off my job years ago because of frequent vertigo issues and bad hearing. I had a cochlear implant put in last year and have seen improvement in my hearing. I still struggle with major vertigo issues. He recently put me on serc betahistine

On disability i am labled as 386.01...........active meneires. Can they take me off disability because my hearing is better yet i still struggle with major vertigo issues? thank you for answering

In a word...no, Meniere's is episodic, meaning your hearing will get bad again.

Doesn't mean they can't take you off LTD: companies often tend to do what they
want without regard for the medical situation.

Please check the "Tidings of Joy" thread. http://menieres.org/talk/index.php?topic=2830.0

There is a possibility it may be related to stealth dental infections. If you've ever had gingivitis, periodontal disease, mouth trauma, or have ever had a root canal or a tooth pulled due to infection, you're at risk for stealth dental infections. Most dentists are particularly bad at finding these infections, and a root canal or pulling the tooth may not completely eliminate the infection. The toxins from dental infections follow the blood stream and go right by the vestibular and trigeminal nerves.

It's also likely that you have a fungal and / or a viral infection as well. Candida is a major problem these days, and most people don't recognize the symptoms. CMV and HHV viruses are also common. MM, especially the level of disability you have, may require several different active infections to get that bad.

See if you can find a holistic practitioner (MD or FNP) in your area. They can evaluate you for the viral and fungal issues.

    Good luck!
