I just learned that Heel, the German company that formerly sold its homeopathic preparations in the US, including Vertigoheel, has sold rights to sell these products (at least some of them) to a new company that intends to make them once again available in the US this fall. They claim that their product identical to the old Vertigoheel will be a prescription product, but at price reduced 40% from the former Vertigoheel.

Not sure right now about any future availablity of Cocculus Compositum, a Heel product that was identical to Vertigoheel but sold over the counter without a prescription.

Of course, homeopathic preparations are made from serial dilutions, which in the end probably have few or no molecules of the originating active ingredients. Supposedly, water in the dilutions takes on magnified healing powers. Enigmatic to me, but many have gained episodic relief from Meniere's symptoms with either Vertigoheel or Cocculus Compositum. (No, no one needs to write and tell that all of this a placebo effect. Start a new thread if you wish to carry on a discourse on the lack of efficacy of homeopathic preps.)

I bring all of this to the attention of viewers because I just revised my Meniere's Treatment Regimen write-up, removing all references to Vertigoheel and Cocculus Compositum (revision here: http://www.zoominternet.net/~kcshop/JOH.pdf )

If these products become available with new names, from the company that acquired American rights, I'll probably have to revise the regimen PDF once again. But I'll wait for this to resolve. Too soon yet --- but there is now the possiblity that Vertigoheel and Cocculus Compositum might once again, with new names, become available.

If anyone knows more definitively on any of this, please post. Present information is here:

More info. A close read of the news release is this:

Heel's OTC products currently sold exclusively to medical practitioners will be replaced by MediNatura's OTC product line, most of which will be priced 40 percent lower than current products. OTC Heel brands with international trademarks will be discontinued, including: Traumeel, Neurexan, Zeel, Oculoheel, Luffeel, Sinusin, Vinceel, Nectadyn, Adrisin, Gripp Heel, Viburcol, Vertigoheel, Spascupreel, Engystol and Lymphomyosot.*

The implication is that Vertigoheel will be no longer available. The re-availability of Vertigoheel may be a non-story.

    Nothing yet about Cocculus Compositum.

Regardless of your personal beliefs this is not a forum to bash other remedies however they work for others. As a result, two posts were deleted from this thread.
