One year Ago Today

Discussion in 'Your Living Room' started by Autumninthefall, Dec 20, 2017.

  1. I almost didn’t post this, but you know what? I’m proud of how far I’ve come...It was one year ago today that I had my surgical labyrinthectomy. If you don’t know, I made the decision to have mine due to drop attacks that wouldn’t subside. It wasn’t an easy road. I had to deal with a bad reaction to anesthesia, a staph infection, and scar tissue, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I still have lots of room for balance improvement, but I’m here. I’ve made it this far.

As an aside, due to the severe reaction I had to anesthesia, I literally have no recollection of Christmas or New Years’ a year ago. I do believe the holidays this year are better by default! :)

I used a natural painkiller/anaesthetic to forget last Xmas – Cabernet Sauvignon.

Awesome Autumn - that's you!! You have the right attitude to succeed. I also had a laby because of drop attacks isn't it great to have that monkey off your back? Wishing you all the best in the new year.

Great to hear from someone who had the labby and how it has positively changed their lives. I am in process of deciding if I will be having one in the new year.

  10. Thank you, everyone! :D :D :D

Great news, I didn't know you had undergone the laby. Keep the faith and enjoy the freedom!

  14. Thank you! I don’t want to put it out there as a cure-all. It certainly isn’t, it doesn’t get rid of the disease, and as I stated, I’ve had some complications. Even now I’m still recovering, in my estimation. I do, however, wish I’d had the surgery sooner, and vetoed the sac decompression!
