I have been on acyclovir for 2 years (400mg/BID) and have not had any attacks,barely have tinnitus, no more variation of sounds or fullness in my L ear BUT 3 days ago I got my first cold sore EVER. Has anyone else had this?
No I haven't....still the same pentagon- shaped, peach- colored pill. I guess the manufacturer could have changed something. Just seems so odd since I was never afflicted with cold sores prior to beginning regime 2 years ago.
It may be that the virus is popping up elsewhere where it's easier to thrive. Who knows. I would personally go max dose again for a week or two and stamp it out. Also, are you taking 1000 mg of lysine 3x per day on an empty stomach?
I was only doing acyclovir past 2 years as it was/is working so well for the Meniere's (seemingly). Now time to rethink that since seeing a cold sore start. I do have a bottle of Lysine.
