    Hello Everyone,
I started Valacyclovir on Feb 2017. It's almost a year. I believe that my Meniere's got totally out of control because I was put on blood thinners after a shoulder surgery. The doctor gave me an arm brace that didn't fit and choked the veins in my arm creating a blood clot. I believe that while I was taking the blood thinners for 2 months the flow of blood was too much or too fast for my ears to handle.
During the time on blood thinners there was nothing I could do to make the vertigo, severe dizziness, nausea, etc. go away or at least to get some relief. After getting off the blood thinners on early January 2017, it was a slow process to find relief. I didn't have anymore vertigo attacks but I was very dizzy for a long time. Little by little the symptoms improved. I feel like i'm still improving every month.
As of the past few months, I feel fine most days. I always have a bit of tinnitus in my bad ear and very little dizziness. Sometimes I feel perfect. My hearing in my bad ear is pretty good. Not as perfect as my good ear but I can hear ok with that ear.
Sometimes I get slightly dizzier. It maybe happens every 10-15 days and it goes away in a few days. It's very weird. I mostly noticed it while focusing to read on my phone. It feels like the pages move a bit horizontally (nystagmus??). During this times I have a bit more of my tinnitus and maybe a bit of a queasy stomach. Thank God it's very mild and I can do everything normally.
I do believe that those days in which I feel a bit more dizzy are getting further and further apart and every time they are more and more mild.
    This is what I do:
Exercise at least 5 times per week (mostly a ride but I run too)
Eat a very very very low salt or salt products diet. I'm very strict at restaurants, parties, etc.
Take 1g of Valacyclovir 2x daily.
Take 16mg of Betahistine 4x daily.
I wonder if anyone hear can relate to the way my Meniere's works ???
    Take care,
    Karina

    Karina...
I can certainly relate. I've been on Acyclovir 2 x day for 9 or 10 mos. -started on 3 x day Feb. 2017 and started feeling better quickly. I'm very thankful my symptoms are mild most days and haven't had that awful vertigo with vomiting for many mos. Even when I feel "sick" I don't have to lie down and it passes. I too walk, bicycle and try to keep my sodium intake down. I don't eat many processed foods but haven't totally stopped granola bars. I find the handy to throw in my bag for lunch along with fruit. - very rarely go out to eat.
I remember reading your posts a year ago and I found much comfort on this forum as I was freaking out when I had vertigo, vomiting, poor balance etc. I think my diet had been very high in sodium. I was eating soup frequently for lunch.
    My best to everyone.

I can relate, but I’ve only been on the AV’s for a little over two months. The last two weeks have been really good, I can tell that they are starting to take hold and subdue the virus so my ear can heal. I’ve been watching my sodium like a hawk, less than 100g a day for a couple months. Once you get used to it it’s not bad. I hope to continue to improve and get back on my bike, I used to ride constantly before by MM got so bad I was afraid to ride. I hope you continue your path of healing and understanding of the disease.
