Great track and one of the few later Incubus songs I like. I wore out the S.C.I.E.N.C.E album in high school!
Nick Lowe. "Cruel to Be Kind". Has to be one of the best pure pop songs ever. Hard to sit still or remain in a bad mood when it comes on. Contagious with a great groove and full sound, like those old Phil Spector produced songs. His lyrics were always clever. "Oh I can't take another heartache Though you say you're my friend, I'm at my wit's end You say your love is bonafide, but that don't coincide With the things that you do And when I ask you to be nice, you say You've gotta be cruel to be kind, in the right measure Cruel to be kind, it's a very good sign Cruel to be kind, means that I love you baby" In the right measure? What? Did she really say that? Ha. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0l3QWUXVho
What a loss! Is the cause of her death known yet? 46 only! That songs brings back memories of my youth.
That would make two of us *laffs Did you ever manage to see them live? I can't remember if I saw them here in AU when they toured with Ben Harper or, it might have been Bush. It may have been Placebo…I don't remember ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm not sure, Marta. A number of her songs orbit close to my core too. She's greatly missed, that's for certain.
I did, with The Deftones in Charlotte, 1999 maybe? Good show, terrible venue. Also saw Ben Harper numerous times during those days.
Beck - Modern Guilt Great album, always brings back memories of driving to upstate NY to photograph a wedding and See Niagra Falls. I think we listened to this one exclusively the whole time. There's a bottomless pit that we've been climbing from Just to get on level ground Shake your seasick legs around Dead of winter in a logo town Signs of life are soft and flickering Need a bed to lay my body down Deadweight to carry down Some static is lulling me to sleep Hang your clothes on a chain link fence In a junkyard say Amen Your mouth is full of wordless hymns And run-on sentences
I think Abigail Adams was one of the most intelligent women who ever lived. She recognized that women were often ignored. That is why one of her most famous quotes is, “If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation.” Thank you, to those on this thread who post songs by both men and women. It’s encouraging to know that some people do appreciate both male AND female music artists. I’m sticking with that theme: Girl On Fire~Alicia Keys https://youtu.be/J91ti_MpdHA Titanium~David Guetta ft. Sia https://youtu.be/JRfuAukYTKg
Full album link vs. repetitive, crazyass music video(?) link to just the one song below: https://youtu.be/AZZ-3p3DDV8 I preferred the full album link, as the video is distracting. I like the guy’s voice. On the same album I like: Overdrive https://youtu.be/SG_0VX2IrNc The found the sound change at about 2:04 appealing.
Love Sia. *laughs & nods… It is, & it is. Nevertheless, a crazy though cool, retro, 80's themed video, albeit repetitive & distracting. The tempo of the music video is slightly faster than the album version, too. An excellent video to air on Rage at 3:37am on a Saturday morning, for instance. I would say an excellent video to air on MTV too, though is it just me, or did MTV implode in spectacular fashion roughly a decade ago? Regarding Lazerhawk, are you familiar with synthwave? I've been listening to said genre for roughly 18 months. It's the best, I love it. Further examples: Lost Years - Black Waves Rob & Chloé Alper - Juno Power Glove - Motorcycle Cop Kavinsky - OutRun Crystal Castles - Empathy It is. The entire album is such a superb love letter to the 80's. Juxtaposed, one of the most cathartic rhythm changes can be found embedded in Gabriel Faure's 'Agnus Dei', between 2 minutes 17 seconds, & 3 minutes 40 seconds.
Eric Gales. Never heard of him until a coworker convinced me to get it and try to see a little live music. If it wasn't for the gigantic disco ball spinning the room I would have survived the whole show. Anyway, this guy is one of those unknown virtuosos that stays under the radar somehow. Here's a snippet from the show, shot on my phone. https://youtu.be/nxyl0kALBwI
