So it’s happened. I started on AVs back on November and went through the acclimation period and was doing really well this month. Went to get my refill and the pills are different. I was on the dark blue ones from a couple different manufacturers but these new ones are white. And you guessed it, my symptoms are back big time. I’ve been on these new ones about three days and have been actively fighting back an attack since. My question is how do I get back on the old pills? Tips? Tricks?

First, do you still have the old bottle? If so, it will have the manufacturer’s name on it. Take that bottle back to the pharmacy and see if they can get that brand for you. i suspect you will have to explain what happend to the dr and get a new script. Do not drop the new script off to be filled til the pharmacy says they can and will use the preferred manufacturer. If they cant get it, go to another pharmacy. I have done this with other prescriptions.

Well crap. I found the old bottle and it’s actually the same manufacturer, but the pills look different now. I called the pharmacy to confirm as well. Kinda makes me feel better, now I don’t have to go through the whole fiasco of trying to get them to fill it again.

    Thanks, June.

That’s odd unless the dosage is different.

If I were the suspicious type, I would think that the manufacturer has manipulated the recipe. From what I've read, generic brands are only tested once to a standard of 0.8 to 1.2 per cent of the brand name. After the initial test they appear to be on the honor system.

I have been through three separate manufacturers with no alleviation of symptoms. I did get back on Northstar brand which has been effective. I mean I'm 59 years old and the hearing in my bad ear is better than it has been in 20 years since I've been on steady Northstar brand A/V. I just can't pass that off to coincidence.

Not sure of the generic that you're using but it may not hurt to request your doctor specify Northstar. Just please don't tell me that Northstar is already your brand. :)

Looks like I've been on three different brands so far. Aurobindo was the first, then Northstar, now Camber. I feel moderately better today, but I'm going to make sure to specify Northstar from now on.

Ugh...still fighting with this. Frustrated. It’s so difficult to deal with getting this med from the right manufacturer. The Camber brand definitely isn’t cutting it. I figured I’d stick with it after having the setback, but it’s been a rough month. This week it’s getting really bad again, I feel like I’m one step away from another vertigo attack. I can’t get another bottle filled till Monday, this one will be from the pharmacy that originally prescribed the Northstar brand. Now I’ll have to wait for the treatment process to start again I’m assuming. Meanwhile I’m just over here trying to get back to my job, just basic living...
