I check here several times a week--try to 'keep up' on folks and it seems many of us have what we describe as 'dizziness' and that can mean different things to different people for sure. I have been taking various meds for b/p and tried 10 weeks of an anti-depressant, and it helped with that but made this problem worse so after 10 weeks, I'm weaning off of it. Meanwhile my cardio doctor changed my b/p med and now I"m going off of it due to feeling worse--so back to the one I was taking. No anti-virals--I tried for awhile--no luck and Dr. Gacek told me to stop them. The dizziness I have is worse some days but the last week has been so bad that I have to lay back in my recliner--and usually after I've been pushing to do things, even going to a gym for exercise--I am 'zonked' and fall asleep. Yesterday was awful and I was in bed at 8: 45 and even going to bed didn't seem to ease it. I could be still having withdrawal symptoms from the anti-depressant , and changing b/p meds, but this is just an awful way to feel (and it's almost daily lately). Feels like a 'band' around the upper portion of my head and that my head would 'burst' if a hole was drilled in it. No pain--like a migraine--but all the other stuff! Makes me have to really be careful getting up and turning to quickly--balance is something I work hard at when this is bad. Nausea comes with it too--and my hearing has gone downhill--and I wear bil. hearing aids--very good ones, but though I hear, things are distorted. Just not having good days. Any thoughts?? Anyone dealing with these same combo of symptoms?
Withdrawal from anti depressants can be bad. I tried them for awhile and it took a long time to wean off. Good luck. I feel your pain.
Thanks Woodsrider--I have tried a few too but never for long. Longest was Cymbalta and it helped but after a few months decided to go off since I felt so much better. Well, that wasn't really bad going off--but when I tried taking it again--it was awful! Same with others---so I just have to deal with all the MM and other things that happen without relying on them, that's for sure. Hoping this passes soon. And--suddenly during the night last night--I had an attack of stomach issues and was up for almost 2 hours. Not sure if it was due to the withdrawal or something I had eaten--anyway---no fun.
My head feels like it will explode quite often actually, the pressure and fullness is so strong it actually feels like the side of my head will just blow out. I make comments like that to my wife all the time when it's happening. For me, it seems like those are the times when my sinuses are acting up as well, sometimes I'll take an OTC decongestant (usually a 12 hour time release) and it seems to help, but I can't actually say it helps, it could just be that the pressure lets up. I hope things get better for you!
So true--migraines don't always come with a headache. I was told once that I had 'silent migraines'---meaning all the symptoms of migraines w/o the pain. But--when I had migraines (and I was much younger and had awful ones), they weren't daily--but probably once a month or two months--not daily like this symptoms is. After I'm up for about 1/2 hour the intense pressure all inside the upper portion of my head is 'bad' and sometimes gets so bad, I think a vertigo is about to happen--but it hasn't in 6 years! Still--this is such a quality of life altering symptom--and only rest--and sometimes just a 'better day' helps. By better day--I mean a 'bit less pressure'==never gone! And I have never had sinus issues--a cold on occasion--but rarely even that! Strange I know.
I see that here often--not sure what it is--so 'no' I don't take it. I really have an unusual aversion to alot of meds. Even otc ones. So, with my scripts and some otc ones, I don't try others unless the doctor says I should--I get so many really bad side effects, just can't tolerate too many meds. What is Betahistine--and is there another name for it? Or is it one that has several names from different companies? is it OTC or script only? Thanks
