    Hello

I have started taking L-lysine a month ago but just started Valtrex anti-vitals. I was wondering whether to continue L-lysine in parallel or not. Has anyone experience with taking both L-lysine and antivirals at the same time?

    Thanks for your reply

Lysine suppresses herpes virus replication in a manner different from valtrex or other prescription antiherpetic drugs. There is no reason not to use both at the same time, as they are complementary.

But lysine often fails to adequately suppresss herpes activity unless taken in sufficient doses, which for most is 1000 mg three times a day, in the absence of food (at least 20 min before food, or 2hr after).

A good number of people using my regimen (http://www.zoominternet.net/~kcshop/JOH.pdf) have successfully taken lysine and antiherpetics together.

I am on Valcyclovir and the full JOH regimen in parallel. Since I started them at roughly the same time I don't really know which one is helping more. I also don't really care :)
