I have had depression and anxiety scene 1995. I take anti depressants. When my MM flares up I go down hard. I wondering if anyone here ever have the same issues and how has it effected you? I had to start going to a therapist to try and help me cope.
Can my anti depressant medication effect MM. I have noticed that my Xanax does help with the tinnitus but does not take it all away.

There are a few threads here regarding this subject and the use of antidepressants to fight MM. I take 2mg of Valium daily to fight anxiety as well as dizziness. When an attack hits there’s not much you can do, no place to hide. You have to face the music.

Check out the mindovermenieres website, he has some good coping techniques on there. Good luck!

My Dr. has prescribed Trazadone for my depression and I'm less depressed.
I also try to get fresh air, sunshine and exercise. i know I use sugar for comfort but it's only a quick fix and ends up leading to a less nutritious diet. So, when I'm not depressed I cook a lot of whole grains and vegetables. For about 13 months I've cut back drastically on processed foods and credit that (and Acyclovir) for less Meniere's symptoms. Vertigo has not attacked me in about 9 months.
I have found this site invaluable, not only for the info. but also the support. When I felt sick almost daily about 15 months ago, I started reading/ writting here. I was thrilled that I could start the John Of Ohio (JOH) regimen right away as I was waiting for my Dr's appt.

I've been trying the simple (obvious?) method of not allowing negative thoughts or memories. They occur because some sado/masochistic part of you "needs" them. So there's this weird drive to dwell on angry thoughts. Got to go against that and snuff them out as soon as they arrive.

I include memories because I turn almost everything that happens into a bad memory. When my life is ok I don't do this so much. But when things are bad, as the last few MM years, I actually have to try and not recount incidents.
