    Hello Everyone,

I've just joined the forum though I've been suffering from Meniere for more than 12 years. I am 33 and well, the beast has accompanied me throughout my youth. I have now got used to tinnitus, sudden loss of hearing, vertigo and vomiting. I've been taking 2 Cinnarizine (Stugeron) 25mg per day and sometimes when it gets worse Betaserc , 3 a day. In spite of taking 5 pills a day, it still spins and sometimes I have to bear an attack.
I was surfing through the websites when I happened to read a success story that was telling something about Fungal infection and its connection to Meniere. I wondered if there was any relation and if anyone has tried anti-fungal medications like Fluconozol and then improved.
In meantime, I would like to know if doing repetitive workouts at the gym exacerbates and worsens the dizziness.

    Bests

There is one man here who had success with an antifungal approach. Perhaps if you put antifungal in the title of a thread he would see it and respond. I had success with antivirals such as acyclovir, valtrex and famvir as have many others. It takes a large dose and a matter of months. Success is gradual but well worth it. It does not work for everyone but helps many. Good luck!

I sencond June's comments on the success of A/V's for many. I am now 1 year symptom free (except tinnitus) after starting A/V's 14 months ago.

As for exercise, I have never found it to exacerbate my condition. I know the disease is a lot more complicated than this, but I do believe that sweating on a regular basis helps regulate the salt. When I was running a lot, I would sometimes get white salt stains on my baseball cap and I have to believe that was more beneficial than detrimental. Also, I remember being on a treadmill and feeling dizzy and trying to focus on a spot on the wall as I walked. I believe that helped.

Bottom line is exercise it too important to overall health to let the beast take it away from you.

Check out this forum thread, it may shed some light on your fungal question:

As far as exercising, I have never let MM interfere with my lifting weights and working out in general, of course there were times when my work out was delayed due to vertigo, etc. but I have found that staying in shape and working out regularly has always helped me to feel better overall.

    Good luck to you!
