Hey guys, quick question here...I am a 3 year antiviral user. I have had great results, flare ups here and there when I change doses, have babies, etc. I thought I would run this by y’all...I have been taking Claritin everyday for several months. I don’t really have sneezing itchy eyes, etc but I do get more dizzy during the spring with pollen, and who knows what blooming. Anyway, I quit taking allergy meds for several weeks bc I was feeling great and thought I didn’t need it. I have been running and mowing grass several times a week and I have had my MM symptoms return. No true vertigo yet but tinnitus, dizziness, brain fog, etc. Having said all that, do you all thing that allergies can over power the AV and bring about symptoms? Does anyone take allergy meds daily forever? Is anyone else so sensitive to allergens?
I think mm is an imm7ne system issue like many disorders. I think more than one thing can impact the immune system. A virus can and an allergy can, and both can cause a perfect storm. Do not let the allergies go untreated. Either get t ested and shots or take meds as required.
What June said. Quite possible that any of the postulated reasons for MM could combine and impact in the same way. If it's inflammation that causes the symptoms than perhaps viral and allergens could push someone over the edge? Also, since it's hard to tell what's impacting it could be that the MM came back right around the same time you stopped the claretin. Not saying that it isn't linked but hard to say conclusively. As for allergies .... I had pretty bad spring allergies and used to take meds but they never seemed to work well. Last couple of years I've been using a Navage - Yes, that crazy looking netty pot on steroids you see on TV - and I haven't had to take any meds since. I am not a doctor and your mileage may vary but it's not that expensive. You have to use the companies salt packs but I haven't found it to be a heavy expense. Something to try if you have the time.
So, do your allergies ever coincide with your MM symptoms? Just curious. I haven’t heard of the Neto pot you are suggesting, I’ll look it up. Thanks!
It's hard to tell now that it's not spring time and my symptoms haven't flared up for sometime. (Seems the AVs have helped since I started them awhile ago.) As many people have mentioned stress seems to be a big factor and, if your allergies are bad and your immune system is in high gear, than you're under more stress. https://www.navage.com/ if you want more info. You can find them on Amazon and other places as well too.
I feel that 99% sure my allergies brought symptoms of menieres and vertigo in the past. I do agree with June about more than 1 factor. I just gave myself 2 allergy shots this morning. I got the stuff from Hoffmanns office where you have been but I think its too far for you. My theory currently, for me, is if the virus is really under control then I become more bulletproof to the other factors, but only if I don't push it too hard. Mowing grass could be pushing your luck, running is not as bad. I am still doing combo dose of Famciclovir and Valacyclovir both Northstar, now taking less, only 375mg Valac and 250 Famcic per day . I am doing well for 7 months straight but last year I got dizzy couple hundred times so lost a great deal of hearing. If I get sick again I may need a baha and a haha, I am quite worried about being deaf, but enjoying life more for now.
I wish you much luck Gardengal, you really helped me last time I talked to you. You gave me confidence on the antivirals.
Thanks for the info DH. Great to hear you have been able to go down on your dose. Yes, we live on a farm and I was mowing pastures, not just “normal” grass. That’s prob all it is. I don’t think I am going to skip my allergy meds again...
Yes, they did the test, not so bad but hurts a bit, I will do the shots for years most likely and year round.
