I am new to this forum!! HELLO! I have had Meneire's since 2012 and am scheduled for a Labyrinthectomy on Nov. 20th. I am nervous, but also looking forward to it!
I had mine 7 weeks ago. It's amazing to be relieved of the anxiety over when the next attack will come. Good wishes to you!
Disney Cruise for kids fall break. life is good. Love their private island Castaway Cay in the Bahamas. Don’t be afraid of the laby, some of us have had labys on both ears. Life with vertigo is no life. Waterproof CI’s are amazing.
That's awesome Bulldog...I was actually thinking of bringing my girls on that in the next year or two...they are 4 & 2 now. I figured it easier on my ears than flying. Good to know you enjoyed it.
Bulldogs, did you end up having to have a laby on your second ear? Forgive me for what is probably an ignorant question, but isn't our entire vestibular system controlled by the vesibular nerves? If both have been "cut," how does one still have a sense of balance?
If I had to guess, I'd say 1) muscle memory. it's hard to forget how to walk. 2) part of the 3 (or is it 4?) balance mechanisms is vision. you still have eyes. 3) tactile. i.e. your feet can still feel the ground. Still, I'm guessing that you have to actively think about balance after a double laby. Probably not tragic, but can't be "fun".
