Hi. I am newbie going on my second month here. I cannot seem to find any answers to this question when I asked my ENT, or his nurse, or anywhere online this question. They said they do not know why my symptoms ALL completely disappeared after my ears were cleaned about a month ago, for almost two entire days! Why? When they cleaned my ear the ENT used a vacumn cleaner made for ears. I felt a little pain, and then he showed me a half-inch size piece of brown wax that came out. I am wondering if anyone here was or is symptom free after an ear cleaning because I am wondering if I even have Menier's.l. Please advise. Thank-You
Well that’s cool! I hope you stay symptom free! Theoretically wax in the outer ear shouldn’t give middle and inner ear symptoms, but when I was practicing family medicine I did see that sometimes. Do you still have any hearing loss? If so, get them to do the Rinne and Webber (tuning fork) tests to make sure there is no sensorineural hearing loss. (When you request this, they will sit up and pay attention- I had to use this line on the first ENT I saw who had the wrong diagnosis without having examined me.)
Thank-You Anne T; Glad to see you onboard during this bad storm. Yes, I still have hearing loss. I did not have a tuning fork test but I was in a booth with earphones on for an audio test the ENT said turned out terrible. Is that the same as a tuning fork test? Should I still ask for a tuning fork test? I still have vertigo but I take a meclizine when I feel it come on and the drug stops it. I have been taking Meclizine for a month once a day. I do not have a vertico attack that lasts more than a minute with this drug. I wonder how long it would be safe to take one a day? The thing is ..the tinnitus, light-headedness, fog, and dizzy head turns came back after a couple of days. That is what is the mystery. It happened a few years ago when my ears were cleaned, and the tinnitus completely disappeared for a couple of days then returned again. I just would like to know if that happened to anyone here, and why?
