What I understood from the doctors I've seen is that certain meds, such as -- meclazine, valium, ativan, and other symptom-reducing drugs -- can cause your body to build up a tolerance if it gets used to them on a regular basis. The standard dose may not be helpful when you most need it. I was told not to use any of these as a preventative medication; instead, to keep the one I find most effective (Valium for me) to be used only in a rescue situation. That has worked well for me, and I didn't have to worry about potential addiction or dependence.
Glenn--what did your ent say about the Meclizine? I still have ongoing lightheadedness--daily, all day and it's really so uncomfortable (for want of a better word).
That's what I have, lightheadedness all day. Plus dizzy when I move my head. I like your last line. It sounds like something from a wan movie starlet. I'm going to use it next time I'm asked. "So what's it like having Meniere's Pupper?" "It's really...so uncomfortable."
