I found a few old (but fairly brief) threads discussing this, but I'm wondering if anyone has any current or material thoughts on this front. I'm fairly new (approaching 1 year) into this, and trying to attack it on every front. I live in a very allergy heavy area. I went to an allergist for the first time in my life this past week. They did testing, and he told me my allergies were "severe" and that he "heavily recommended" shots. He didn't promise anything but says this has helped a number of his local patients with dizziness and vertigo issues. Of course, they're pretty expensive. I'm still happy to pay if it will move the needle on the MD symptoms. I feel like my dizziness, vertigo, and aural fullness are all worse when my allergies are noticeably flaring. What are the potential relationships here? Immune system related? Just swelling/pressure in the ears? If anyone has any thoughts or personal experience i'd be glad to hear it. Thanks.
Hi Robert I too have severe environmental allergies that were detected just prior to the start of my MM. I started shots mainly because I felt awful from the seasonal allergies but as the MM came to be I continued the shots. When my allergies flair so do my MM symptoms the shot weren’t a cure for me but they help keep things under control. I have seen some here have said they have been cured by shots but I don’t know the circumstances for me it’s jus additional relief at certain times of the year.
I had cochlear hydrops with many and bad symptoms progressing quickly toward vertig in 2007. I did not respond to conventional treatment such as low sodium, diuretics etc. I then tried antivirals and allergy treatment. I am now free of all my symptoms and have normal hearing. I believe the antivirals helped the distort and the allergy shots helped the hearing loss but it is hard to say with certainty since i did both. The doctor who treated me was Dr Derebery at House Ear Clinic in LA. She is both an allergist and an ent. The allergy treatment brought very gradual results over minths and years but it did work for me. My results are really remarkable but it takes patience. I would definitely try it and give it months and years. It is worth it in the end.
