Hiya all! I am fairly new in this "rocking boat" and I feel alone and very helpless since I am not sure what exactly is going on with me. I will just write .... Last year in summer I experienced two vertigo attacks in the middle of the night, when changing position. It was a week in between the attacks. Room was spinning and I was spinning and all that. It went by in about 20-30 seconds and I slept on. Once I woke I was still dizzy and had balance issues. Constant rocking sensation with feeling of fainting in between. Little nausea but not sick. Sensitivity to light and sound and migraine like auras (flashing dots). Foggy head, difficulty to concentrate. Tension and pressure feeling on the sides of the head. This constant floating/rocking/feeling faint went on for 4 weeks. Called my doctor and she wrote me Betahistin. I dont know if it is to work straight away or in a period of time. In the 4 weeks I used it, I dint see any changes. It was only after the initial attack I realized that two days before I was very agitated, could not focus on what i was doing and felt the pressure/locked feeling in my left ear. As the 4 weeks went by all was back to normal. Then, in about 3 month it all came back. This time it dint start with the vertigo attack and there was no sign of ear fullness. The rocking, dizziness, imbalance and foggy head, migraine like symptoms and so on ... it all was back again and it again lasted for 4 weeks. This time after getting back to "normal" I had constant mild headache for a week. Again about 3 month with nothing to complain about. And here we go again .... this time again no vertigo attack. All the "stormy waters" and migraine sensations with a strong headache and strong pressure on the temples. Foggy head, light and sound sensitivity, not able to concentrate and so on. Survived the first week, three to go ... I have seen the ear/nose/throat specialist. She did an audiogram test and it was ok. Right ear above the average and left a bit less but still in a very normal range. She also checked my eyes with the scary goggles and noticed the eye flip/tick once turning my head from left to straight position. Said it was most likely the MD. Still waiting for the MRT scan and neuro consult. Anyway a lot to read, right..... I myself am not sure of the MD diagnosis. I understood that the dizziness and balance problems didnt occur for so long time with MD? If anybody can relate to my symptoms and have the MD diagnosis I would appreciate Your comment. I am really feeling hopeless since only thing my doc says is to get used to it ...
I'm no doctor but that sounds exactly like MAV (vestibular migraine) to me. It can often present along with Meniere's, but not necessarily. Meniere's usually has the hallmarks of hearing loss in low frequencies and longer vertigo attacks than you describe.
