Or save your money and get it at your local library. I just put the book on hold. Thanks for the tip.

Good book. I suspect many (most) Meniere's patients have migraine-like triggers. I certainly do. This approach has helped me significantly. When Ih ave bad times, I can generally trace it to getting sloppy with my diet, though as the book explains not all triggers (e.g. weather or allergies) are within our control.

So, just an update on myself,,,
It may make sense that I have the herpes virus for Menieres.
I'm also type 1 diabetic and since this all started in Jan, my blood sugar has been all over the place like the same when I get a bad cold, virus. I'm usually spot on.
Today was my first day with no crazy blood sugar levels and I've had 24 hrs no dizziness, slightly better tinnitus.
I'm on both JOH regimen and b5, b6, plus valtrex
Nothing to get excited about yet, but it is odd with my blood sugar and virus..making sense to me now
    Will keep you posted.

Hey, RGV, hang in, explore the info out there (check out Meniere's Disease) , proceed methodically while keeping notes about what you try.
I have had tinnitus so loud it woke me in the wee hours out of a sound sleep. Best I relief I found from it was putting in earbuds and playing white noise (rainfall, water running, etc). Seems counterintuitive but the noise you play somehow masks the tinnitus and makes it more bearable. I use a free app on my iPhone from ReSound, Relief, to produce the white noise. There are many others, I believe.
Note that when I told me ENT about the above, which I came to on my own, he said that is essentially what he recommends.
I hope this may be helpful to you and, mainly, good luck.

I have both mav and menieres. I was taking high doses of B6 which a neurologist told me B6 exacerbates migraine pain, he recommended I take between 200mg and 400mg of B2. I am taking 200 mg a day and it really helped relieve the head pressure. Just a caveat if you ALREADY have cataracts B2 could worsen them, but the neurologist said b2 won't give you cataracts. If you look under the Menieres Disease forum there is a good article on mav or migraine associated vertigo. You could also have both. Best to you.

Man, get the MRI. Take a Valium. CT shows bone only. MRI shows the soft stuff and the bad stuff you want to rule out. I fell asleep on my last MRI they had to wake me once out. Its loud but does not get any louder. Vital test in your case.

I do not think anyone knows for sure which herpes where is the culprit, they just know for some people antivirals work.

I had no rash and no diagnosis of zoster oticus. It was more likely in my case a latent cmv though no doctor knows or cares. You just have to try the antivirals and see if they work for you. They are much less dangerous than most of the drugs prescribed for menieres and often the family doctor who is not defending any particular theory on menieres will prescribe them to see if they work.

The antivirals are really kicking my ass or ramping up the virus. My sugar levels are out of sight right now and I m normally a really tight diabetic.
I'm going to see an infectious disease specialist Monday. I find it odd that all this happened 3 days after I got back from Aruba. My wife also has slight tinnitus since we got back, nothing else though. It's just strange. A long shot but why not at this point. Maybe he can shed light on the herpes virus too. Will see

Interesting. My symptoms all came crashing in when my wife and I both had a stomach bug. She was not affected other than the typical 24-48 hour GI issues. Seems like a massive coincidence.

I have cmv as well.. I didn’t know I had it until I had some bloodwork done for fertility treatments. I was researching it, and the antivirals they use to treat active cmv are not the same as for herpes. Very interesting. Have u been tested for hsv also?
