I have talked about this a bit before but I felt great during both pregnancies when my estrogen was high and awful postpartum both times when estrogen was low. My cochlear hydrops started for the first time after stopping birth control pills which means my estrogen would have dropped then, too. I felt awful for the first year of my son's life and then when I stopped nursing him I felt so much better. Sadly, I decided to stop nursing my daughter at 2 months old because I didn't want to be miserable her whole first year as well. She is now 3 months old and I just started lemon bioflavonoids on Friday and I am feeling better for the first time in 9 weeks.
Do you continue to see a correlation with your cycles? I’ve wondered if sometimes they were connected to my symptoms but sometimes they don’t seem to be. No consistency with much over here!
Years ago, the neurotologist I was seeing asked me if I had noticed any correlation of symptoms to my monthly cycle, that some women did. I never did but it seems entirely plausible that hormones could have an effect--they affect so many other things in our bodies. I was never pregnant so I can't comment on that aspect of it. I never noticed anything with perimenopause, menopause, or post menopause.
Going off birth control pills used to give me vicious migraines and Progesterone natural or from pills gave me serious acid reflux so i wouldnt doubt it for a minute.
I definitely think there is a connection between hormones / menstrual cycle and symptoms. There certainly is for me. I have read its due to water retention at certain times of the month / hormonal changes which would make sense really.
