    A must read... scroll down for lady’s story.... A man with no vestibular function is now running 5k’s and when I talked to Dr. Charley via email he told me the patients could walk a balance beam and one even ride his motorcycle to an appt.

    This is wonderful!! I would like to know more about what qualifies a person for consideration for this transplant. Also, maybe I missed it in the article but what is the transplant? Like what do they use? I noticed in the article it said that after all his improvement Rick's oscillopsia returned. I wonder why?

    It is basically a CI but instead of stimulating the cochlea nerve it stimulates the balance nerve.

    I believe they have a combo VI/CI to take care of both.

    I believe Ricks ossolopsia came back while running the 5k but he could continue running... it has since disappeared. and in an interview I read with him he is back to riding his motorcycle and competing in Ironmen and training with marines and playing competitive golf.

    I believe like the CI upuncan adjust the stimulations ect...,

    Dr Della Santina would have to answer your questions.,,, he does respond to emails or if you live in Northeast you can always make an appt tonsee him at John Hopkins in Baltimore/DC
