I'm curious if any of you have had experience with Blair chiropractic or upper cervical chiropractic treatment.

After my recent diagnosis, I talked to the father of a friend who has had MD for 15 years. He said after nine years of living with it he saw a physical therapist who specialized in vestibular rehabilitation therapy. After some vision and balance tests she began to treat him with the Epley maneuver. In his words, at the end of that treatment he felt like he was having one of the worst vertigo attacks of his life, but then soon after that he felt the best he'd felt in years. He saw her again six months later and was again treated with the Epley maneuver and he's been pretty much attack free — albeit with some light dizziness here and there — for about six years.

I've read that the Epley maneuver is effective in treating benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), but haven't encountered anything about success in treating vertigo associated with Meniere's. I wondered if my friend's dad had been misdiagnosed with MD, but the symptoms he described — aural fullness, tinnitus, and vertigo attacks — check all of the boxes for MD.

This has me curious about upper cervical chiropractic treatment in general, but I'm a bit skeptical. I'd like to hear about more people's experiences before I commit the time and money to trying it.

RO - I recently started seeing a functional medicine neurologist who is also a chiropractor. He put me through a series of tests and found that my vestibular and ocular systems are not communicating with each other as they should. I also was told that my pupil in my right eye tilts slightly down. This makes my horizon off, which effects my balance. I see this guy a few times a week and each day it’s a different activity. I’ve done nuerofeedback, adjustments, bbq rolls (similar to the epley maneuver), a ride in a machine called a gyrostim (please look it up on YouTube- it’s fascinating) and various vestibular therapy. I’ve been going for treatment about a month and a half and honestly there have been ups and downs. However, and it’s a very important however, the downs are not ever as low as I was when I first started this process. My hearing is back to normal. The tinnitus is minor, so much so I barely think about it being there. I’m able to wear my glasses again (my balance was so bad that wearing my glasses made it worse). I am able to wear high heeled shoes again!!! :) My anxiety has decreased at least in half and for the first time in decades I actually feel happy. As someone on here - maybe multiple people have said - this is an individual journey, no one’s journey is exactly the same. Heck, I’m not 100 percent sure the Meniere’s diagnosis was correct...all of this to say, you have to explore all paths you can in order to get your health back. Btw, this guy isn’t cheap. Insurance does cover some but not all...however I would pay just about anything to stop this insanity. Please feel free to pm me if you have further questions.
