I haven't had a full blown vertigo issue for years. However, in the last few weeks I've had two incidents of vertigo lasting five seconds or less. Things start to move, I close my eyes, and it's gone. I feel a bit out of whack when it happens but nothing from what other people describe as the walls moving for minutes. This happen to anyone else or, as mom likes to say, I'm special?
I presume you have been diagnosed with Meniere's then? What meds are you on to keep the vertigo away? It does also happen to me every now and again but I haven't had a full episode since February and I've been on the Serc (daily) religiously since.
Dario, Well to be honest, for me it isn't that bad. I don't feel like I am suffering badly, yet. I am used to the small to medium vertigo attacks. I have only had 3 major vertigo attacks, all this year. Two in April, and one in Sept. I even quit going to the ENT specialist after a year and a half when all this first started, 18 years ago. Hearing is virtually gone in my right ear but it has been ringing non-stop all those years. I really hate the hyperacusis though. I now have a Dr. that told me if things get bad, pick up the phone. Jim
Yup I’ve had those. I still get tiny ones now, after gentamicin seems to have eliminated the big attacks. It might be, for me, the remains of the Menieres, side effect of gentamicin, or this strange thing PPPD. I’m thinking it’s pppd secondary to Menieres. The jolts tend to come in visually complex settings, florescent lighting, quick turns, neck flexed too long.
Yeah, a couple years ago the doc gave me the news. I take a bunch of supplements and Valtrex. Hearing shot back up six months after taking it but I had to stop for awhile. Started back up on it six months ago. It seems to have helped but I'll know more in a couple of weeks when I go back in to the doc.
Hmmm .... that seems like it could be it. Two of the three times were after sitting at my computer for a few hours off/on.
Whenever i have had short spins of the room or those quick issues, its like the calcium in the inner ear is starting to move out of where its suppose to be from the BPPV Vertigo. The Epley maneuver has always helped. If thats the cause of yours of course.
