Hi, I’m new here. I’ve recently been told that I might have menieres and I’m driving myself crazy googling everything. It started back in 2008 with constant tinnitus and hearing loss that lasted about a year and half and then went away for about 10 years (the tinnitus I mean, the hearing loss stayed). The tinnitus and additional hearing loss started back up again in August of 2018, and then in August of 2019 the vertigo started, severe attacks as well as general dizziness. I finally got in to see a specialist recently. I’ve been trying the low sodium diet for a few weeks now with no luck just a lot of bland food.

I guess mostly wondering if anyone else has experienced a relief of symptoms for that long before them coming back? Will they go away for another 10 years and come back? I’m so confused

My symptoms started in 2004, they lasted one year then stopped totally (except for hearing loss) for 6-7 years. In 2010 it came back severely and I have dealt with ups and downs ever since. Never years of 100% remission again (going on 9 yrs).

My tinnitus and hearing loss started in 2000/2001 at the age of 32. Tinnitus and hearing loss never went away.
I didn't have the vertigo attacks until this year. Only three major ones so far (2 in April and 1 in Sept.). All summer I was feeling great, and since the end of Sept. I have been feeling great. Just take it one day at a time and try not to stress out. I know, easy to say hard to do.

Ask 10 people with Meniere's and you will likely hear 10 different stories.

Yep..... only thing predictable about Menieres is that it’s unpredictable.

I seem to have good years and bad years, 2017 was particularly bad, I had a severe attack in July then in October I also suffered with Labyrinthitus, I was off work for 6 weeks and it was horrible to put it mildly. Last year was pretty good, just the usual balance and ear pressure but this year has been a bad one again. Yes I agree it's always unpredictably which is the worst thing about this condition because you never know when and where it's going to strike.

Thank you all so much for your responses! It’s so much better to hear from other people going through it rather than my doctor
