Good afternoon I wonder if fellow suffers could help at least diagnose me as I feel at a lose and have had off balance feeling for 10-12 weeks now. Here are my symptoms, - The main issue is feeling off balance when I walk around, when this happens it last most of the day and only eases when I stop and lay still. - I find I am so tired by the end of the day it feels like my eyes are tired which I assume they are working overtime from trying to compensate the balance issue. - I have felt fullness in my ears but not too often. - I have now the last 4 weeks in a silent room I can hear a slight buzzing or humming. I have had a MRI done, been to the doctors a few times. On Friday just gone I have been prescribed betahistine at 8mg a day which maybe is working but its still on and off with attacks but too soon , I read it takes a week or so to see a improvement. Im not sure what I expect to have joining here but I am down these days and feel at a loss, I am working and started to feel stress makes this worse? I think if I knew it was likely Menieres I could work on getting better, does physio at all help?
I think you prolly got Meneire's yeah. Just a word of advice. (Not that this will happen to you). But get your bedside table ready for anything you'd need if you have a serious and long spinning attack. Small trash can for vomiting, roll of paper towels, portable urinals (you know, like, big bottle things with caps, see Amazon), mixed nuts (or whatever you like for when the spinning slows and you're hungry but too messed up to make it to kitchen), sunglasses with duct tape over lenses (any amount of light can make you nauseous), water bottles, xanax (to help take edge off mental anguish during attack. Take them right away when you're still able to keep them down.) Whatever pills you normally take, for heart/diabetes whatever. Kitchen type trash can with trash bag in case you can't make it to bathroom. Since often queezy stomache happens at same time spinning attack starts. Again, everyone is different. Fast, 12 hour spinning attacks may never happen to you. But if they do, you'll want to be prepared. Especially since you don't want to go to emergency room. That's what happened to me and they really can't do much. And it sucks in ER if you're spinning. Cuz you'll be waiting on gurney in hallway for 2 hours before the doc can see you.
Your symptoms do sound like menieres. I have not tried betahistine, but there are some good posts on the forum about dosages you may want to look into. What specialists have you seen?
Not sure what physio is. If you mean physical therapy, then yes, it can help. Also, IMHO, you could have Menieres. You should go to an Otolarygologist to confirm. S/he may or may not be able to help you, but as you have stated getting a diagnosis is important. If it turns out you have it, there are a lot of therapies posted here that people have tried over the years that you may find beneficial. For me, I believe my symptoms (similar to yours) are Menieres and that it is caused by the herpes virus. I have had success with the JOH vitamin regimen, antivirals, and now with a Monolaurin/Vitamin C Complex/L-Lyzine mixture. Hang in there. You can figure this out and experience significant improvements. Best of health to you!
Thank you all for the replies it gives me lots to think about and try, I will aim for a specialist soon but with covid 19 it will all be a long wait. I’ll check back thanks all and hope you all are well.
