Hi, I’m new to this forum but not to menieres. I was diagnosed around 25 years ago and for the first few years had a rough go of it. Lots of attacks, roaring tinnitus, hearing loss, and then it stopped. I’d have an occasional bout of vertigo but it was rare. Fast forward to now, the fullness, pressure, roaring, ringing, and hearing loss is back with a vengeance. It’s scaring the crap out of me, I can’t hear a thing and it’s been going on for two weeks I’m taking prednisone and it’s not even helping this time, just started triamterene today also. I have an apt wih my ENT tomorrow and I’m hoping he can help. Has anyone one here been in remission for years and had it come back like this?

From what you read on here many folks have been better only to have the MD come back at some point in their life. I've had good luck with AntiVirals and prednisone. How much prednisone and how long are you comfortable taking it?

I have read a few cases of attacking him again after 8 years, for example; but in all these cases the tinnitus was never gone. In fact, you are the first person with Meniere who tells me that he cured all his symptoms for so long and then had them again.

Whatever the cause that causes them has returned, that is clear. Could it be viric?

I wish I could help. Sometimes the MM returns after years of remission. That seems to be its nature sad to say. Good luck at the doc's.
