Hey! i have been having on and off vertigo for more than 10 years. Past few months have been very rough, im having pulsatile tinnitus almost constantly on my left ear and also very strong sudden vertigo attacks which makes me fall down. They can last for less than minute to few hours. I also feel some weird sensation in back of my head when i get this strong vertigo which makes me fall, i wonder if thats normal during meniere attacks? Im also getting dizzy when i do exercise and i was wondering if this could be cause there is constantly some inflammation and fluids in my inner ear and moving around increases pressure there = dizzy spells. I also feel quite weak during my attacks and slightly confused. I do have hearing loss also on the left ear. I belive also i might get slight anxiety during these strong dizzy spells cause sometimes when they come i feel that i have slight trouble breathing. I had bad allergies and asthma in youth but its been alot better lately. I also have this slight nausea in my stomach almost constantly. Im pretty worried since this has been going on now for few months and its been worse than ever. These attacks can come very suddenly but sometimes i feel bit nausea before them and sometimes also pressure inside left ear.
Have you not seen a doctor and been diagnosed with Ménière’s? Much of what you describe seems typical but everyone’s experience is a bit different. I get some weird head sensations but not exactly like yours. A doctor would order an MRI and maybe other tests to rule out other things.
As she has told you, Meniere is experienced differently by each patient. The protocol for diagnosing Meniere today is to have three symptoms: Vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss. And that an MRI does not show any cause for it. They will also do an audiometry to confirm hearing loss. Most likely, you have Meniere, but without an MRI you could have a neurinoma, degenerative disease, malformation, etc.
Oh yeah i had MRI taken while back and it showed nothing. They are suspecting meniere but they are not completely sure since they claim some symptoms are not typical. Im also having extreme muscle tension and slightly weaker sensation of touch on opposite side of my body from ear which has pulsatile tinnitus. (hearing loss and pulsatile tinnitus on left ear, right side of body extreamly tense and sometimes even slight color diffrence between legs and arms.) Yesterday i had so severe dizzy spell i was unable to open my phone to call. It lasted less than 1 minute and it threw me onto ground violently. I was also gasping breath, maybe only because the dizziness was so severe.
Sure sounds like meniers. You may also have some BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo). The vertigo from that generally only lasts a minute or two. If you haven't already, check out the epley maneuver. I have meniers but the epley has helped a little sometimes. All that said, people here on the forum have come across some pretty good remedies. Nothing cures it but there is help.
i have started epleys few days ago but not help so far. also dix hallpike was negative last time they tried it. I have thought also about BPPV mixed with meniere cause im also getting more dizziness when turning head sometimes and when drinking from can of soda it might be troubling to finish it cause i need to bend head back and it can increase my dizziness. And sorry for my spelling im not native speaker, and its been pretty hard to concentrate with this constant vertigo.
