Elon Musk shows Neuralink brain implant working in a pig

Surely most of you have already seen that yesterday Musk presented a brain chip that would allow us to do many things (operate computers with the mind, reproduce memories, etc). But what is most interesting is its medical applications, Musk said that it would be possible to treat most psychological diseases such as anxiety, depression, Alzheimer's, etc. It could also help deaf people hear better as the chip could transmit the sound waves directly to the brain.

For now there is nothing concrete about this chip and Meniere, but I have thought that perhaps this chip could help people with Meniere in three ways:
-Detecting when an attack of vertigo or dizziness occurs in one ear and blocking that erroneous information from reaching the brain. You can have balance with the other ear, perhaps even the chip can send correct information about balance to the brain.

-Helping the brain ignore tinnitus. In the same way as above.

-Helping to listen better in cases of serious hearing loss or even in moments after vertigo attack when hearing is fluctuating.

For now the chip has been tested with pigs and surely if it is finally sold for humans for years it will be very expensive. But it is a first step into the future, maybe in 5-10 years ...
And well, you never know that it may appear in the future that will revolutionize the world and may have medical applications, as I always say these things give hope.

The problem with neurolink is that apparently Elon Musk has magnified the achievements of his scientists and promised things that are impossible for now. To begin with, years ago it was possible to put a chip in a person's brain and thus control the prosthesis of an arm; The problem is that the human body detects the chip as an external agent and isolates it with scar tissue, causing the chip to be isolated and not working in a few months.

This is the barrier for decades that has been tried to overcome to advance the possibility of introducing chips into the human body. To date, scientists still do not know how to achieve it and Elon Musk has the same problem or at least, he has not announced that they have discovered anything in this regard that allows progress.

So to date what Elon Musk has announced is nothing that could not be done before, perhaps his chip is more advanced and complete; but nothing else. The barrier is not in the chip or what it can do (new more powerful chips appear every few years and with less consumption, this will not be a problem anymore), the barrier is in a problem of human biology.

For now we have to wait many years in this field, I fear, better to put our hopes in the clinical trials of pharmaceuticals that we have discussed in other threads and in genetic research.
