About question 3: If you can pay it choose Valtrex is best than valacyclovir (generic) and valacyclovir is best than Acyclovir, but first most expensive and last the least. Betahistine is not for virus only could you help against dizziness and vertigo attacks and I take Valtrex with Betahistine. And if you have HSV positive test you should take AV, vitamine B isn't antiviral maybe can help in other ways like support your defensive system, etc. But not like a AV.

    Good luck.

With any of the antivirals, whether prescription (valacylovir, et al.) or lysine, many report that at some time at the start the targeted virus becomes, for a time, more active. Symptoms increase, not decrease. But almost every case, this indicates that the virus is forced to react to the antiherpetic and will eventually die off. If you can, persist. When the symptoms are once again suppressed, the relief should be enduring (as long as you keep up with the therapy, at least with lysine).

I'm not confident in recommending which prescription antiviral should be taken. A few other posters are more qualified to make that recommendation.

The B vitamins support the immune system. They don't, themselves, suppress the herpes virus. Therefore, take the vitamins right from the start, along with the antiherpetic prescription drug and the lysine.

I'm not qualified for anything :) but can tell you what worked for me. Doc prescribed Valtrex and I got the generic valacylovir, took 3, 1000 gram pills a day. Within 3 days the extreme fullness in my right ear subsided, along with some reduction in tinnitus and that alone made me feel better. However, within 3 weeks I had another episode of vertigo and the bouts of vertigo continued every 7-10 days for 6 months. But during them 6 months I could tell my hearing was slowly improving and the bouts of vertigo were getting less severe. Also have been on JOH regime since the beginning and continue to follow his program as well as taking 3 AV every day. Too scared to stop anything! Ringing in my ears, although greatly reduced, continues to this day.
But the vertigo finally disappeared and I've been vertigo free for 11 months now.
On the advice of JOH I take this multi vitamin along with his regime.

The idea for me was to try and get as healthy as possible and hope for the best.

I appreciate your experience which I can use. My MM experience short is but severe .
Two small things I can add for fellows in suffering: Velamints sugar free peppermint white gum from Tr.Joe's helps to breath deeper during an attack; and instead of coffee I drink Dandy Blend Instant Dandelion beverage. At least something reminding a good old time.

As committed, I am giving a progress update after a week.
I definitely feel the difference after using the B6/B5 complex. The ringing is not as loud as before. There has been 2 brief moments that it was almost gone. 3 possibilities:

    1) It is working!
    2) Placebo effect
    3) regular fluctuation on Meniere

I will post within a week again.

Sad day today... Despite the apparent progress of the last few days, I had a vertigo attack and the tinnitus sounds really bad.

    Eveva,
Hopefully JOH sees your question. I believe he would say the increased dizziness in week 6 COULD BE the virus fighting back. Many JOH Regime and A/V users experience an increase in symptoms before eventually calming down or hopefully subsiding all together.

I have used A/Vs for several years. If you can get Valtrex you should do that. The rules governing the manufacture of generics leave too much to chance. I personally ran into at least two duds while on valacyclovir. Mylan seems to be the worst and Northstar the best.

Which treatment to use is always a difficult question. When my symptoms are present I am of the mindset to throw everything but the kitchen sink at it. Once I was on JOH, A/Vs, chiropractic, B5/B6, Vestibular Rehab, CBD oil, and probably one or two other treatments simultaneously. Unfortunately, that does not allow you to determine which treatment is actually providing relief.

The scientific approach would be much more practical. Choose one and work with it for several weeks. Take copious notes on exactly how you are feeling and what you are eating/drinking. No improvement - then move to the next one. Feeling bad for that long would suck but it's probably better to be thinking long term right from the start.

    Best of health!

LOL - that's exactly what I do. If it has worked in the past or Aunt Mable's neighbor's hair dresser knew someone who did and it worked for them, then I'm all in! :)

This is an update of my experience. Unfortunately, B5/B6 did not work for me. Tried for a few weeks, but had vertigo attacks and the tinnitus got worse. I am back on Betahistine now and things got a lot better.

    Hi there !
I've been suffering from MD from past 7-8 months !
1st 3 weeks, the Disease started were so bad ! But then ENT specialist prescribed me BetaHistine(D.Vert-25mg) and Stemetil tabs. ! These medicine gave me relief for some time, i used it for about 2 months.... I thought my disease is completely gone, because I suffered from it no more, no more Vertigos etc. !
But then after some times it happened again( after 2-3 months) vertigo frequencies were not that much sharp, but yet it was quite despair....
I used those medicine for 21 days approx. It gave me relieve , but ENT prescribed me those meds. For again 2 months.
Now its been month and im suffering from Vertigos and sharp tinnitus ... Please let me know, vitamin B5 and B6 gives some reloef in this regard ??

B5/B6 did not work for me, but has worked for some people here. I take Betahistine (24mg) twice a day, and as long as I take it, I live completely vertigo free.

Usually, Betahistine takes 1 to 3 weeks to start working, and then I cannot stop taking it ever in my life. My doctors told me to take it 3 times a day if symptoms seem worse. When Meniere started for me in 2016, I brought it under control taking Prednisolone, Dramamine, and Betahistine. Then only Bethaistine without a problem for 4 years. With the pandemic, I run out of Betahistine and had 6 vertigo attacks in 2 weeks, plus lost some more of my hearing... I followed the same procedure with Prednisolone, Dramamine, and Betahistine for 2 weeks and I am good again. Only taking betahistine twice a day now. I hope this helps.
