Jen, mine came on real quick, any time of day , so quick I had to grab on to something within a minute or two or I was going down. My early ones lasted 4-8 hours , more recent ones 12 and I had one that lasted 24 + hours. The whole room is spinning and then up come the cookies. I had vertigo on and off for 10 years before the onset of the tinnitus and I was just diagnosed about 3 months ago.
I have not had any vertigo for about 2 1/2 months - since going on the meds.

This is where I get confused. My vertigo has been gone since September 1. My original ENT said it was BPPV, my last Epley was on September 1. The month of August was an awful month for me. The episodes were there when I woke up. I could sense the vertigo coming back in my sleep. When I woke up, I could not do anything without help. The spinning sensation, dizzy, nauseous, throwing up, the pressure in my ears and head, the feeling of fullness in my ears, and the ringing started August 1. I’ve had 5 of these episodes in August. The spinning would last a few minutes or longer. When these days presented themselves, I would just go and sleep it off so not really sure how long the vertigo stayed with me.

My last few episodes were this past week. Out of nowhere, dizzy and nauseous in a split second, then the lost of balance instantly, the ringing amplified about 100 times what it was. Loss of hearing for a few minutes and just have to wait it out for the ringing and pressure to subside. So, I have no idea if this is Ménière’s or not.

When you are not having episodes, do you feel ear pressure or fullness throughout the day? Does it come and go with no rhyme or reason? I was good ear wise this morning other than the low humming. But, I’ve had the fullness in my ears for the past few hours with the ringing. I am so confused.

Ray...thank you for your reply and I hope Dr. C will help with the depression. Runs in my family, and I have walked in your shoes.

JAB - could you please tell me what foods Dr. C. asked you to avoid. I am a believer in getting at least some help from diet.

It is difficult due to necessary restrictions the forum has in place. They are very similar to the Heal Your Headache list. Check your inbox.

Update...I had my vestibular testing yesterday and it was within normal range in all 3 categories. No idea what is going on...and no drs appointments until December unless I have another bad attack. The ringing continues to be 24/7 and was so bad today that I cried for hours. Hope all is doing well.
