    Hi All
Hoping that my dizzyness / periods of hearing loss may be down to problems with my nose I had surgery about 2 weeks ago. They zapped the sinuses with ultrasound I believe and also removed a "spur" I had which causes one side of the nasal canal to rub on the other. So hopefully these 2 things will stop me getting so many colds / flu which I believe is one of the biggest triggers. I had plugs in for the first 3 days and apart from only being able to breath through my mouth felt generally ok. I had the stitches and plastic inserts out a week later and by then I was feeling pretty lousy and my hearing was going and the noises in my ear / head going up and up and that's pretty much where I am now (although luckily the dizzyness isn't really kicking in).
So I know I can't expect miracles (although secretly between you and me I was just quietly hoping for one) and also if problems with the nose ARE the root of this being cut up, bunged up, stitched up and so on over the last 2 weeks have probably created the worst conditions possible. But what I wanted to ask was have any of you had this type of surgery? If so, did it have positive effects and how long before you started any positive effects started to kick in?

Now both dizzy and deaf. I spent the England - Italy game on the floor with my son telling me when something interesting happened. ;)

Sorry to hear that :( I hope this resolves and you feel better quickly! I never had this surgery so I can't give you any input on it. But I hope it brings you relief soon

I hope today is better for you.
    Keep us posted!

I know it's still early days and I don't want to go getting over excited but right now I feel better than for a long time. Completely dizzyness free and my hearing is coming back. I had good patches and bad patches before so it would be a while before I could say that the problem is definitely resolved but I thought I'd pop in and let you all know how things are progressing.

Good luck! I know that my sinus issues do impact my Meniere's....so even if the surgery doesn't fix everything 100% for you I am sure that you will find improvement!

    How are you feeling now?
I also had the surgery about 2 years ago, I can breathe better but my dang allergies get in the way! :)

Well, we're now into November and I still feel better than ever. I'm not saying the surgery was a "cure" as such especially as I used to have good and bad patches before. But I have had the same conversation with doctors / ENT's several times where they say Meniere's is incurable. I'm sure it is as once the inner ear is damaged there is nothing that will repair it, so I would be told that there is nothing that can be done and to just take (Cerc for the rest of my life). So I'd ask how did we get into this situation where the inner ear is damaged and the simple answer is they don't know. It could be genetic, it could have been a virus, bacteria, physical damage and so on. I know a lot of you out there are much worse than I was and maybe in those cases the damage is done, but I think for many of us these problems aren't something that "happened" they are something that is "happening" (and each of the bad spells is more damage to the inner ear) and so fixing the "low hanging fruit", or the smaller problems that can have knock on effects to the ears really could help over time. it's worth a go anyway!! In my case I got my tonsils out the year before as they were getting infected a lot and then this "nose job". The only thing I would say if you have similar problems is leave the tonsils till a last resort as it hurts like s***. ;)
