Hello......please don’t turn this into a shit show or get political

Just wanted to post that I took part in the Johnson and Johnson vaccine trial at the suggestion of wife and if anybody is interested I will share my experience.

I’m a healthy 50 year old male who I want to think Im in pretty good shape with an active lifestyle.

I had two injection several weeks apart just got my 2nd one last week.

First injection was a piece of cake...just like a flu shot. Felt nothing but like the flu shot arm was a little sore that evening. I assumed I did not get the vaccine but rather the placebo.

2nd shot/ Booster was a different story...I got a headache and I must admit the next day I was tired a little lethargic and went to bed early around 9:00. Woke up in middle of night with a slight fever at around 100
Took 500 mg of Advil and it immediately went away and did not return.

Because of this I now assume I got the real vaccine.

Here I am a few days later and feel absolutely normal.

PS....I don’t give a rats ass how you feel about Covid or vaccines noisy wanted to share my experience for anybody interested.

Have a great weekend as it is absolutely beautiful in Atlanta this time of year.

I am sure Chief would not have you do the trial if she had any concerns. Thanks for doing this!

Update on my experience and condition

I had a follow up appointment the other day and they drew my blood to run several tests, I do not know what tests they were Or what they were looking for but at my follow up appointment today the doctor told me and my wife (The Chief) that I had a strong robust reaction to the vaccine and my body did indeed product the antibodies to protect me from Covid or if I did get Covid I would probably not know it.

The Chief being a Physician asked a question about T-Cell response /long term memory cell protection response in case antibodies wear off will my T-cells respond and offer protection or produce the antibodies in the future. They indicated Yes.

The conversation between the Chief and Dr was at over my head and beyond my knowledge. They used a big words. Lol

I feel normal and my body did what they wanted. Some things they did not disclose and would not disclose because it is a trial and I think that is what the blood test were for.

PS: my OTO/ mm doctor pushed me to do the trial because they need all kinds of people/volunteers especially those with pre-existing conditions such as mm.

    be good, protect yourself

    have a great weekend
    I love the fall weather

Yikes. I read about the trial pause, but it never occurred to me that it might be Joe who had side-effects, as he mentioned his immune system responding so well:( Joe, say it ain't so! Please let us know you are okay?

    Hello,
I’m doing absolutely wonderful and just received the results of my antibodies test and as the Dr. indicated last time I have robust antibody levels that would indicate immunity...they have not called off but he could not talk about the T-Cell response because I think that is what they are after.....long term immunity. That is the sort of thing he said is what the trial doctors and FDA is really looking for. (Long term memory).

is it going to be like the flu shot we get every year or is it going to be like polio, MMR, etc.... one time and done forever.

    be good
    I could not be better

    Joe

What has happened to the Johnson and Johnson vaccine? Pfizer and Moderna will be available sometime this month and J&J hasn't even released any data yet. I think they are saying J&J will be just one injection, while the other two will require a prime and a booster.

As I understand it, it's not really known how long a person will have immunity following a vaccine. I heard a news segment today where it was mentioned that it may be only three months. If it's going to take months for everyone to get the vaccine, what happens with the people who were among the first to receive one? Before everyone even gets a vaccine, will they have to get in line for a second set?

    So many unknowns.

How many here have had the Corona virus?

When I was going through the process, J & J were working on two vaccines...and from what I was told they had 2 trials going on mine for a two shot and one for a one shot vaccine....it’s coming, First doesn’t necessarily mean best or most effective.

I think Maderno and Pfizer started the process a few months before Johnson and Johnson. I believe AstraZeneca is another big drug company working on a one and a two shot vaccine. In all there are over 200 clinical trials for vaccines going on...I could be wrong but it is a big number.

As far as the 3 months....that is a huge misconception....the study says 3 months because it has only been in trial/humans for 3 months. These trials are going fast and furious and the phase three trials have only been going on for 3 months and the vaccine is working and producing antibodies. They can’t say 1 year or forever because the vaccines have not been in humans for a year or indefinitely. That data is not available yet..

I was told antibodies are only a small part of it because it because the study cannot tell yet about B and T cells memory.

The researcher running my trial told me at best it should last forever depending on the B and T cell reaction and at worst they would be happy if it was like the flu shot and you get it/ booster once a year.

That is a very misleading headline just to scare people. Something the media just loves to do....FAKE NEWS ...it has been only studied for 3 months and it’s working.

    be well and be safe
