Hi everyone,. I'm still trying to figure out what's causing my vertigo and I can understand why it's hard to diagnosed. I was thinking today that I haven't described my symptoms too well. First of all I got vertigo morning after a funfair ride. I don't know whether this could trigger meniers but perhaps the most important symptom is that I've only had the spinning head sensation when laying down. There are times I feel I'm about to spin so I sit up and it stops. I seem to be able to control it. I also get the feeling I'm on a boat but only when I move. If I sit and keep my head still it's fine. It's basically triggered by movement. Could this be meniers? My hearing test was normal a bit low in the high frequency and I haven't had the spinning sensation for 6 months as I sleep sitting up. I do get tinnitus which is high pitch but it's not a problem I only get it for a few seconds now and then. When I first got vertigo I would go to sleep and feel fine and in morning open my eyes and they were jumping like I'm on a boat but as soon as I got up it would suddenly disappear. Atm I seem to have a bit of every vertigo disorder.

It could BPPV and maybe some crystals got dislodged in your ear from the funfair ride causing some vertigo and dizziness. You may want to try the epley maneuver to see if that helps when you're experiencing the vertigo. Have you seen a Dr about it or just an audiologist? Menieres usually causes low frequency hearing loss first.

    Hey
Thanks for reply. Ent doctor said thinks it's bppv and persistent positional dizziness which does make sense but the tinnitus which don't bother me at all don't. At first thought viral infection. Then audiologist said maybe meniers. I think that threw me a lot and since he said that I feel on edge. It's like I'm waiting for it to happen. I take my diazapam everywhere and scared I'm going to start spinning and not stop. When I first experienced vertigo it lasted 2 days and then weeks afterwards. When I say 2 days I mean feeling like I'm on a boat on and off when walking, laying down. The only time I feel ok is when im driving. Then I get brain fog or like Im in a bubble. I had a huge anxiety attack. I honestly don't know how how you do it.

And I did do the hallpike and it was negative. I did epley 100 times and only got mild vertigo once.

I think you should see more of a specialist next, a neuro otologist, and if you have options find a good one, it's worth traveling to see a good dr too if you can. A good dr can save yourself a lot of time since it's hard to diagnose the cause of vertigo. A neuro otologist can diagnose meniere's better than an ENT and rule out other disorders that can cause vertigo. Try not to worry yourself too much as stress can make the dizziness/vertigo worse and there are quite a few disorders that can cause vertigo too. Maybe ask people in the forum of a Dr recommendation for the area where you live. I live in Ca and can recommend a few out here if that helps.

Also you may want to lower your sodium intake to see if that helps at all. It will reduce the amount of fluid build up in your ear and may help with your vertigo/tinnitus, this is one of the first things that drs suggest doing and a lot of people on the forum have had positive results by doing this too.
