    Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum as I have recently developed symptoms that sound an awful lot like Meniere's disease.

I have had BPPV off and on for over 20 years, but now have developed vestibular symptoms that are different from BPPV. About 2-3 weeks ago voices (including my own) started sounding robotic, and after googling the problem I learned that this condition is called diplacusis and is an indication of unilateral hearing loss. The problem seems to come and go.

Then about a week ago I suddenly felt dizzy while simply walking in my home, and it was unrelated to a change in head position like BPPV always is. I also had tinnitus and ear fullness, which I don't believe I had with previous BPPV episodes. The recent episode of dizziness (the room did not spin, but I felt dizzy, light headed, and nauseated) lasted for a couple of hours and then I slept for most of the following 20 hours. I continue to have off-and-on tinnitus, ear fullness and minor dizziness a week later.

I live in San Diego and have seen Dr. Purcell in the past for BPPV, and I assume he also treats Meniere's. What other Meniere's doctors do folks recommend in the San Diego/Southern California area?

Thanks very much for any advice you can provide!

You can check the database, or hopefully another member can give you a recommendation. Taking a quick look, I saw Dr. Jennifer Dereberry in Los Angeles. Good luck, and I hope you find the help that you need!

    Hi Night Kotka,
I’m in San Diego too. I’m seeing some specialist in the Sharp system for help with vertigo. It’s a very slow process. If I find any of the docs really helpful I will reach out to you.
