For you guys who have had this for awhile, how bad has your hearing become and has the tinnitus become worse as your hearing decreased?
My take on tinnitus is that it is mostly a result of hearing loss. Period. So.... I have it worse in my left ear, the "meners ear" but also in my other ear from hearing loss other than meners caused. Lot's of rock music as a kid and I'm also a shotgun instructor so probably gun noises. And yes, the deafer I get the worse the tinnitus.
I have several flavours of tinnitus, and yes, bilateral, even though I only have Meniere's on my right side. I do have noise-induced hearing loss on my left.
So you are doubly unlucky…how bad is your NIHL. My audiograms show great hearing aside from a loss at 250 and 500hz.
My tinnitus has been in both ears since Mar 2020 when it became much more amplified. Somewhere between a railroad crossing bell, bad brakes (I have multiple tones in both ears), someone dialing a phone with buttons (just one button) or a really loud fluorescent light. And it just drones for eternity. Occasionally, it gets high and very intense for 5-10 seconds. No hearing loss so I’m not diagnosed for anything yet as I’m not textbook anything. It’s still very hard to hear. I almost laughed out doing my hearing test!
