I need AD not necessarily because I'm depressed but because I understand ssri's may help the terrible pain of irritable bowel disease. I also know they can trigger seizures in those who have seizures. The main reason I haven't tried them is I also know they can cause fluid retention. With MD I am finding it hard to take a chance on triggering vertigo attacks. Anyone here take ssri's & what was/is your experience. Thanks very much!

I always recommended if your diagnosed with MD and your having vertigo attacks, getting some sort of med for anxiety, your gonna need it. The more anxious we are the more bothersome MD will be. Just a side note from reading on the forum, I believe some sufferers may be confused on what is dizziness and what vertigo is. There’s a difference. Not all MD sufferers have vertigo attacks. When I read about people who say they can’t handle the tinnitus but can handle the vertigo, it makes me wonder sometimes if they actually are having vertigo attacks and mistaking it for bad dizzy episodes. I find the tinnitus is a breeze compared to a actual vertigo attack. Vertigo attacks for me are debilitating. Ask anyone one on here whose had true vertigo….
    Anyone out there agree?

There’s currently a trial going testing whether Effexor helps with Meniere’s outcomes. So at least some doctors don’t see a negative effect.

I’ve had rotary vertigo with this where I felt like I was in a clothes dryer for 5 days. That still isn’t as bad as the tinnitus, because for me the vertigo goes away for a period of time, the tinnitus is always there.

I have ativan for an attack but my internist doesn't want to prescribe it but so far has. the dr I have access to doesn't understand MD at all. Tinnitus is not good but would choose it anytime over vertigo.

I treat IBS with diet, probiotics & now trying Fodmap diet, but neither have worked. I have multiple food allergies. I have considered leaky gut.
