I started feeling feverish and achy Saturday, Jan 1, 2022. I was ok in the early morning but went down hill starting about 10 a.m. That evening I did an Abbott Home Covid test and it was negative. My Menieres symptoms increased as well. I was still quite sick the next day, Sunday. Feeling feverish but the thermometer was only 99.4. Even my skin was sensitive. I did another home test and again negative. So, I guess I don't have Covid. However, I did notice a couple of things I find interesting. On Friday, before I got sick, I played golf and my balance was off. Not real bad, but we all know that feeling of slight unsteadiness. This was unusual because I had been doing pretty good for a few weeks. The second thing was my heart rate. I got a new Apple Watch Dec 23 (Merry Christmas to me! ) and my heart rate on that Friday was very elevated, in the 90s all day and this was before I felt sick! So, anyway, I find it quite interesting that my heart rate was indicating something was wrong before I even felt it. Today is Monday and I am still home sick but think I am on the mend. So, it seems that with Omicron spreading wildly, I managed to pick up some other bug. LOL Stay safe folks. If you do get Covid, please let us know.
Day two. Feels like the flu. My son brought it home last week. I am functional with ibuprophen. Two years ago I would have just gone to work. I won't be getting any tests. Jim
OK! I hope you feel better soon. I am in Florida, where are you? (only answer if you want to). Has it affected your Menieres? How is your son doing?
CT. It and other bugs are running rampant here. Son is fine. Thursday was his first day. He is at 90% now. My wife is nervous. She works in a hospital and cannot work from home like I can if she gets sick. Jim
I had a headache and felt a little off for a few days before I got body aches and fever, I thought my meniere’s was acting up. I tested negative before testing positive two days later. No vertigo which is good! I’m on day 5 and today my tinnitus is better than it’s been in months which is a welcome surprise. Still have a headache but ibuprofen helps.
I was sick for a week late December. It felt like a bad cold or flu -- coughing, runny nose, chills. I took two COVID tests during the course of the illness. Both came back negative. My aural fullness completely vanished for a few days during the sickness. I interpret it as my immune system was "busy" somewhere else. Maybe it was all the cough drops with the 'extra' vitamin C helping, or a subtle lifestyle shift, I don't know. A few days in, the symptoms returned to their usual level. A few days after my recovery, coincidentally a few hours after eating out with a friend, I've started having a massive daily uptick in the aural fullness. I was going from a low 2-4hrs/day to now 8-10hrs/day, the fullness taking turns bouncing between each ear. I, like many it seems, wonder if I had omicron despite two negative tests.
I am still recovering, just day 3, really day 4 but I was unaware on day 1, and I suspect I will be able to resume light activity tomorrow. Mine was very much like the reaction to the vaccine, only bigger. My wife has been fine. I know another couple where he had it, confirmed by a test, and his wife did not get it either. Who knows, it is all very strange and I am so tired of it. However I am in an ideal, retired situation, my kids are out there struggling in the working world, poor darlings.
This has been on my mind for a while, and so relieved to hear folks here have been coping well. Stay safe and feeling good everyone.
I have Covid. Sore throat, runny nose, and low grade fever. I tested positive at my doctors office. My Meniere’s’s symptoms have not been a problem. My heart rate is in the 80’s. Normally it is around 60. I was diagnosed on 12/28. I still have symptoms. I am vaccinated and boosted. I feel like I’m on the mend.
Thanks for letting us know Lax12mom. I too am vaxed and boosted. I'm feeling pretty good so far today, day 5. But mine may not have been Covid. What I think it was, was a very mild case, too low of a load to register. My resting heart rate is back into the 60s for the first time today.
Get well soon! Our doctor told me: only those tests sent to a laboratory can find out if you have Covid or not, if you had been vaccinated before. Selftests would not work because the lower viral load of a vaccinated person. Best wishes from Bremen, Lilja
